Hello FH! I've finally given in and decided to join FH just in time for Reach. I don't have much of a history in Halo 3 or in forging, as I only really have XBL at college. I've recently started working on my first competitive Foundry-based map (mlg at that) MLG Vengeance. It started as sketches on a piece of scrap paper, and now is blossoming into a pretty ok map. I figured typical lockout-style (2 bases, 2 towers, middle) would be a fair place to start. After such an elaborate introduction, I'd like to extend an invitation to any experienced Forge-hubbers who would be willing to take a peak at the in-production Vengeance, and possibly give me some pointers on map geometry, flow, spawn/weapon placement, etc. I love Halo, but Forge seems to be where I really enjoy myself; I'm looking to be a high-roller in the FH community during the Reach era, and possibly/hopefully even get a map into the pro circuit. Obviously, I have the bar set high, so please, send me a message or friend request on live (GT: GoldBrass) or here on FH if you're looking for some help with a map, or are willing to help me with any of mine, or even if you just want a friend. Like any community, the more people you know, the higher you can go, and I'd like to make it to the top! ~Ryan C
You know what, I should just add a bunch of you and play with you guys whenever I'm on and you guys need testing. I'm always bored anyway. Welcome, I'm glad you like the Forge and stuff. And cats, I guess.
ohai new gai If you need an extra tester, Im at forge lobby doing nothing. If Forgehub is confusing, feel free to ask someone else. /sarcasm Just ask meh and Ill do my best to help out Oh and speaking of Sarcasm.. Theres this dude guy named SargeySarcasm. Hes runs this school
I don't really play halo anymore, but hey new guy. Glad to see you here. Good luck on that high rollerthing I suppose. Also, if you do get good at forging MLG maps, do us all a favor and be creative. The generic 2 base set up is so lame, and the only time I have seen it pulled off good was in Insane54 and Sir Toppum Hat's map on foundry of which I forgot the name. I think it was Impact? Hmm
Requim DOW. It was a very good map, and very creative. I also build the awesome MLG maps, and will be releasing several sometime in the near future. Once i finally finish that project ill give you all the help you need, and hopefully we can get something big out of you even before reach!
Yeah, definitely! I'm lookin' forward to it. For anyone that's curious, my current project isn't terribly original, but it looks kinda neat. It should play well, but it's not really different enough from lockout/amp'd/ons to make a playlist, but I didn't think I could make something with extreme creativity without first getting ideas from smaller, simpler projects. This map has taught me so much about forging and it's only a third done. I've reached the 100 customs limit on my GT, but I have the original Hennessy (need to dl Annex) Ampd, lockout, ons, Requiem, ignite, etc. I'm trying to learn from proven forgers, so I think I'm on the right path. Anyways, thanks for the warm welcome, hopefully I'll be on the other side of these threads in the near future.
Hey there, welcome to Forge Hub! If I'm ever not busy I'm always up for helping or testing. Hope to see you around!
Yeah, or maybe Reach will get something big out of you, who knows. I'm fully expecting Forge 2.0 to completely kick 1.0's ass with its fists.
How are you csquared with only one c? And welcome to Forgehub. Don't screw around, put out some awesome stuff and have fun
@KFJ - Hopefully! I'd love to be a renowned contributor to Forge 2.0, and it would be awesome to be featured alongside some of the best. @noklu - My last name is Chiaino, and since no one can pronounce italian last names I was handed the nickname chichi. Thus Csquared . I didn't want that to be my GT though..people would think it's a rip of T2, and I like to be original. Gold brass is a type of metal used in crafting some models of brass instruments, most notably, my Holton Farkas Series French Horn.
After watching the new ViDoc, it's safe to assume that, once Reach comes out, absolutely no one will be playing on Sandbox/Foundry ever again. I mean, no one. At all. No one. AT ALL.
Yeah, that ViDoc is SICK. I watched it like 8 times over; it's so epic. The height adjustment and the angle snaps, not too mention the standard/phased/fixed object placements. It's gonna allow for so many creative user made map variants. It's a safe bet that 1.0 won't be used too often after this one hits shelves.
