Hello everybody! Sorry i have not been here or posted or even made contact with some of you for so long! i have been busy with IRL stuff and my team stuff. But all that crap that no one cares about aside! Im here to tell you all about my new unnamed project that like 3 people know about, and now all of you (or atleast the people who look in this thread) will know about it. And just a little apology in advance, i dont have any pictures =(. I know im sorry and i love you all and ill edit this post later with pix. But here is a description so maybe some of you can maybe see my vision. (the description is for the lulz so please, no raging. <3) Its going to look like the map "Blackout" went out with some friends and met a guy (assuming blackout is a girl) named The Pit. Blackout assumed The Pit was a nice guy and said she had to go to the little girls room. But while Blackout was at the little girls room, The Pit roofied Blackout's drink. Blackout came back and drank said drink while The Pit watched and evilly smiled. After Blackout was basically drugged and passed out, The Pit took her back to his Appt. and...well yea. 9 months later THIS MAP HAPPENED! yaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...sorta. And to the forum mods; sorry if you guys think the story is naughty naughty, but it is how i described it to my friend cory and it sounds good...sorta.. PIXXXXXXXXX YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Backstory = wat. It sounds interesting, but I think tinkering with elements of The Pit and adding them to certain elements of Blackout could go drastically wrong, they both play entirely differently. Best of luck with this, as I am hoping to see a solid map when you're all finished.
Yes i know they do play entirely different, Blackout was more fast pace and you can hardly go anywhere without getting team-shot, while Pit on the other hand, is a lot more slow paced, and it also requires a lot of setting up and team-shooting, but i personally think that pit can be a a lot more individually based, due to the size of the map (i.e. 1 on 1 sniping, and 1 man flanks) <-- again this is my opinion. I want to combine those elements that made Lockout in halo 2 so amazing (Blackout kinda flopped), and Pit to make a not so unique map, but hopefully a well built and a map that plays very well. It honestly looks way more like blackout then the pit. Not that that's a bad thing, just putting in my 2 sense. I'll be looking forward to seeing this idea fleshed out.
*Ahem* Cents. So far nyte, this looks pretty good. But i will say that blackout & pit combined will be terribly interesting, one map is very verticle while the other is more flat, one is map control based while the other is flow, one is team skill based while the other is individual based....... In other words Blackout is The Pit, juxtaposed. I suggest just sticking with a blackout-esque design and making the rooms larger, and the LoS's better covered. If you do that i beleive you will get the desired effect. Ive got a map taking the blackout design the other direction, making it more like Guardian and less like Lockout so once they are both done we can compare the two results and see whos better
Liking the pathways for movement so far, so many times in sky bubble maps, they give you these narrow edges that I fall off of so many times. Also, Nyte, move your pics to the main post, it'll help, as more people will immediatly see them.
You should see it now, its a lot more along in the process, i almost have the underbelly of the map done. P.S. DING DING DING we have a winner <3 ha this map IS to be more Blackout than it is to be pit, its more of blackout but symmetrical and added hall and sexytime.
Yes that The Pit is one horny bastard. He once tried to get me in bed, but I told him I was under-aged. I got lucky that time.
*Gasps that "mapzorz" is still being used around these parts* Anyway, that looks a lot like a map I was working on, but ran out of budget/items for. Hope it turns out better for you than it did for me. Then again, I kind of fail-planned the map.
