Holdout v5 is an Infection map a made a while back that goes with a Gears of War gametype I made. It uses all three levels of Sandbox, with the Zombies (Locust) spawning in the Crypt and the Humans (Gears) spawning in the middle. And in the SkyBox is three Hammers of Dawns, each with one Spartan Laser. Here is a picture of the Hammer of Dawn in action. Each one only has one Laser that spawns once every 3 minutes, but in good hands it is a lethal weapon. But try not to camp up in the Hammers, because I know it sounds like a good idea, but you WILL die eventually. There are three Teleporters up to the Hammers, each leads to a different Hammer. They are all located inside the house. This is the house the Gears spawn inside of. It has a Rocket Launcher and Shotgun in the spawn area, and a Sniper upstairs. Also in the spawn area are two Turrets, and a Mongoose. With good teamwork, the house is the best place to hold off the Locust. But a trip to the armory first would help too. And a Transport Hornet spawns outside the house after 150 Seconds. That is the armory. It has a somewhat decent variety of weapons, so there's something for everyone. And in the background is the Alter, which has a Laser in the middle. The Gears' Garage and Sniper Towers are shown here, both are only a short distance from the house. And yes, there is a Sniper Rifle on the Tower. *NOTE: This is an older picture of the Sniper Tower, I more recently Ghost merged the ramp into the main tower. And this is the Locust's spawn area. Better weapons spawn as the game goes on, such as Rockets and a Laser. *NOTE: There is a Custom Power-Up in the Weapon Holder which makes you General RAAM for 90 seconds. And if you want the Turret, rip it off first. And an Aerial view of the whole middle area. Gears - SMG/Magnum starts - 100% Damage Resistance - 90% Shield Rechare Rate - 100% Damage Modifier - 90% Speed/150% Gravity - No Radar - Color: Blue - Waypoint: Visable to Everyone - Vehicle Use: Full Locust - Alpha - AR starts - 110% Damage Resistance - 50% Shield Recharge Rate - 90% Damage Modifier - 90% Speed/150% Gravity - No Radar - Color: White - Waypoint: Allies Only - Vehicle Use: Full Locust - Secondary - SMG starts - 110% Damage Resistance - 50% Shield Recharge Rate - 90% Damage Modifier - 90% Speed/150% Gravity - No Radar - Color: White - Waypoint: Allies Only - Vehicle Use: Full General RAAM Power-Up - 300% Damage Resistance - 50% Shield Recharge Rate - 125% Damage Modifier - 75% Speed/150% Gravity - Color: Black - Waypoint: Visable to Everyone - Vehicle Use: None The links at the top work too Map DL Link Gametype DL Link
Umm, spam much? No, but this is actually a pretty cool map. everything that is merged and interlocked is done so cleanly, and you didn't make the locust too weak so that the gears could just camp. I think that three different hammer of dawns is a bit overpowering, but im not sure. my xbox is currently being fixed, so i can't play test it Good Job!
Well your a happy Chappy arn't ya. You will be dealt with soon enough I do agree with you there but don't you think the armroy is just a bit over the top for the gears, really you should have the weapons spread out on the map, meaning it's a risk to get a powerful weapon not just getting it straight away with no one stoping you. You can keep the armory the way it is if you want to but most games like these work better when the weapons are spread out. anyway ill download and may edit this post later to give ya more feedback EDIT: i didn't download the gametype but do the locust spawn straight away or do they have to wait a bit before the can go into teles?
@RittSea and Combat P3nguin: Three Hammers actually isn't too overpowering since it takes 3 minutes for the Lasers to respawn. And the average player can't hit a thing from that hieght. And I forgot to mention that the Gears have to survive for 15 minutes strait, and the Armory only helps so much. And yes, the Locust spawn right away, so the Gears need good teamwork.
To me it seems very balanced because the locust traits are very similar to the gear traits which means the extra firepower would be counteracted by strong enemies. and if youve got five gears out there, its probably not a good idea for three of you to get the lazers. congratulations deathstrike
Can someone tell me how a map gets more downloads than it's own map? And expect to see Holdout v6 a few days after Reach comes out.
