I can tell you are new so Welcome ot ForgeHub! But you are missing a few key elements to this post. - At least one Picture or Video that clearing shows us the map before hand downloading it. Just add and embeded Picture or Video of the map int he post and you will be all set.
yeah im sorry i didnt know about that until i started looking at other people's posts.....ill add a picture as soon as i can
Well done on your first post. Your map looks amazing i sould say. can use some merging but it looks ok as it stands. I like the fact That itz not a big all-out war map but itz look like a map that can be played in matchmaking. Can use Mongooses, its the more gamer way to say it. another question. Have you tested the map yet? If not I'd love to test it out. And welcome to forgehub.
No i havent tested it out yet i mean i played on it by myself but thats all i havent exactly played it with anyone. And yeah the whole goal of this map was making a map that would perhaps fit into matchmaking (because i just played a whole bunch of maption sack with my friend i got inspired to make one). When i was forging it i made sure to make it so it fit with all the gametypes as well.
For your first map, this isn't bad at all. I see that you have a very interesting design for the Bases and the Middle structure. The only thing I would liek to see it the map merged a little more. Since this is your first map, I cannot expect too much, but here is a Forge Guide written by a good friend that could help you alot. It sure helped me.
Yeah i only used a little Geofusing and i dont know how to really get down to the nitty gritty with it like fusing objects into the ground and ghost fusing and whatnot but hey thanks for the guide
From just lookin at the pics (and reading the post) it is clear you are aimed at gameplay which is great. I will have to play the map to know for sure, but I predict a few things that usually go without saying: -I like how you use the shape of the blocks for the geometry of the middle, and to take it a step further, interlock everything. This is not as hard as it sounds. All you need to do is simply pull everything in a smidgen while the blocks it will be interlocked with are not spawned at the start. (I figure you can do this after reading the guide) The reason for doing this is to avoid grenades falling in the holes, and to avoid bumps in strafing (for the MLG people.) The next step is to ghost-merge the ramps in (They tend to be more bumpy and skewed placement-wise.) -You have 2 warthogs on the map, and just rockets to take them out. I will have to play it to find out if this is unbalanced, but experience tells me it probably is. -Style-wise, I will suggest that you try to come up with features that people have not done before, or implement it in a different way. I personally like to avoid putting corner larges together as a feature just out of originality. -Design-wise: I suggest that you up the cover on the dunes and from the dunes. This expands the map and avoids the sandbox dune syndrome of everyone climbing on the hills and team BRing people who have no change on the low ground. Not to mention warthogs live for dunes. That is all I can say, and probably way too much, for not having DL'ed and checked it out already. I will do that, and edit if I was way off.
Welcome to Forgehub! Map: The map is structurally reasonable and would allow for good gameplay, but it could use some interlocking, which there are great guides for in Forge 101 and Forge 201. Personally, I don't like crosses between asymmetrical and symmetrical maps but this works well(ish). It could also use some more items, but not in a cluttered fashion, because it seems as if you haven't reached anywhere near the item limit (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). You have good ideas for your map, and with a little more dedication you could make this map even greater. Suggestions: -You could add side passage(s) to the warthogs. (On ground level) -You could add a variety of heights in the middle structure, also on the sides of the bases but with multiple routes to the top, especially if it is a sniper tower or something. -Add a little more cover between the middle structure and the bases and maybe some behind the bases. Weapons: I think there was a reason why Sandbox didn't originally have Snipers... because, if you're an average to an experienced sniper, you can take over the map. So, with that said, I hope you decreased the amount of ammo in the Sniper. I would also suggest changing the Mauler to a Shotgun and adding a Missile Pod to each base and a Plasma Pistol to even out with the warthogs. You should cut down on the amount of BRs and add variety by adding Brute Shots and what not. -Just as a rule of thumb, never place a sniper on a tall, or tallish, surface... Overall: Great job on your first map and your first post. I hope to see more from you. Keep forging! Edit:: Inglorious made me remember that it's a good thing to add certain structures or items that give people things to "call out" to their teammates. Colored columns are always good, spires could be cool too. I would suggest giving names to the areas you create too so that people don't have to make names up on spot, while in game.
I actually had alot of that in mind when i was making this map but even though it doesnt look it it says I cannot add anymore items to the map
