My new map

    Allright I haven't been on here for a while but this is my new map if the pics don't work it's because i just copied it all from my forge-union thread.



    Well here is my new map not finished yet.

    Yeh so what you think as I said it's not complete yet so make comments about it and hopefully I will get the time to sort it out


    Now you may have noticed that the center is rather crap so here are the pics I later posted

    All right now you have seen that it isn't finished it yet I am still debating whether to add more cover.

    I have got a weapon list so far
    here that is
    Assault Rifle x4
    Battle Rifle x6
    Sniper x 2
    Plasma Pistol x2
    Plasma Rifle x4
    Covenant Carbine x4
    Spartan Laser x1
    OverSheild x1
    Plasma Grenade x6
    Frag Grenade x6
    Power Drain x2
    Regenerator x2
    Warthog x2
    Mongoose x4


    Note the snipers have no spare clips.

    Also I will need help with the spawns as I don't want to ruin the map by crap spawn points.

    So post your thought about the weapon list, More cover or not, and if you wanna help with the spawns.

    In my own honest opinion.. I dont particularly like anything about it.. But as I say that's my opinion.
    It could probably do with neatening up a bit, because at the moment it just strikes me as random structures here there and everywhere and its hard to make out the layout of the map and what it looks like overall..
    An overview would be nice..

    I particularly like the one-way vehicle ramps you built in front of your mongoose and hog spawns!

    Agreed. But, the rest of the map is barren, and the vehicles will be the major power of the game, which for a competitive map (which I'm seeing this as) is not good.

    As I said everyone I am debating whether to put more cover on the map. And that I am NOT finished.

    If you wanna help just pm me cause I wouldn't mind it as I am stuck with ideas at the moment.

    You can't put down more cover on a map. The map IS the cover.

    As well, your map shouldn't be many ideas in one. The map as a whole is your idea.

    I know that bu at the moment i don't have time to think about the map as of work experience. But I wanna know how to improve the "Random structures" should I delete them and start again or improve on them and make the 1 whole structure so to speak

    Everything in the map should have a purpose, and I'm not seeing it here. The structures are pretty, but I'm seeing no attention paid to lines of sight and infantry flow. If you haphazardly strew about cover at this point, these things won't be helped. Take into consideration both how vehicles should move around your map and how infantry should move around your map. The current map looks bothersome for both parties with blocked pathways and flat open spans between structures.

    Personally.. I quite like the new central structure.. it divides the map fairly well and the connection between the two structures underneath the middle bridge bit also suit rather well and pose a good holding point for map control and it appears to be relatively safe from vehicles. I'd keep that section.

    The other structures, on the other hand could do with being re-built or scrapped.
    If you're struggling with ideas, try make your map symmetrical, it's a more simpler way to make a map balanced and look good, although people will say its "unoriginal" don't be put off by it. A symmetrical map is a good place to start in mapmaking.

    If you're wanting the map to be vehicle friendly... try make it so the players can use the middle of the map to an advantage and not be mowed down by the warthogs repeatedly. Create plenty of obstacles in the centre so it's more difficult to drive (think default sandbox) so more vehicles tend to move to the dunes and players can then keep safer when advancing.

    I liked the side bridge structure thing also, that'd be quite nice if placed at the opposite side of the wall as well for the other team.

    At first I liked the map because it looks like you have very good forging skills, but then I started thinking like steve 11thselby.

    Maybe if you simplified them a little bit and straightened them out a bit as well, the map might start to look a little bit better. The new middle structure looks alot better though. I think it might look cooler if you put arches over it. Idk that's just what I think would look cool as of right now due to the fact that I can only see pictures.

    Well asa far as map progress is coming along I have saved another version with the cover deleted and at the moment I am experimenting with designs for cover and a better map
    ---
    Well so far I haven't had the time to do much so this is just experiments to see what I can do.

    So remember this isn't for definate so give your opinions and I will have a look to see what I can change

    i like the ramps which make the map cool. The middle does look a bit empty and you could move some of the structure towards the middle.

    Well I am finally nearly completed with this map and Halo 3 so here it is. The structures are complete all that need doing now is spawns.

    the map looks alright aye, the bases really are the attention grabers but everything else seems simple and small, Your simple structures are unique but add nothing really into gamplay and those places will be really just ignored.

    Well i look forward to playing the map until then that wait for starcraft 2 and Reach

    I don't know if this counts as bumping but it's been over a month and no map post that I have seen. I know you might be busy and not have much time but it seems to me you have given up on your map and I advise you not to do that, at least post it for a day or 2 to see if anyone enjoys it. I know that I really want to dl it.
    Also:if you did post it, you could post it here of in your sig, just a suggestion.

    Here you go. He posted this map like along time ago. It's not that difficult to look at his profile and see if he has made the thread for the map yet. It literally took me no more than 15 seconds. Just sayin'.
