Unfortunately you have to add all the accessories too that. AS WELL as a screen :p, which isnt going to be exactly cheap if you want something good.

Any screen would work, honestly. Like you're using a computer right now, use that screen until you have enough to pay for another. I bet in the past few months to a year you've gotten some new accessory for your computer which you can transfer over.

    1. There's no need for that much RAM, 4GB is more than enough.
    2. The processor has not reached its full potential for a $1000 build. You can increase it with the money taken from the extra RAM ($124.99).
    3. 2 Terabytes? You've got to be kidding me. Take one off, you'll save a sweet $79.99 that can go into that mediocre GPU.
    4. Put any extra money into the case and power supply, in that order.

It all depends on people's preferences. If you like to make videos, you'll need space and a good graphics card/processor. If you are going gaming, you'll need a great graphics card and processor.

Months of research is the best way to future proof your computer. Need some proof?:

Intel 860 2.80 GHz Processor (Better than Intel 920/930)
    ATI HD Radeon 5770
    8GB RAM
    750GB Processor
    Windows 7
    23' Full HD Monitor
    Logitech Z-2300 Speakers

    Price? Under $900. Impossible? No.

If you're on a 64 bit processor then there really is need for that much ram, in fact if you wanted to really future proof, you could up it to twelve.

    EDIT:

What do you guys think, any suggestions? This will be my first time building a PC and I'm not very familiar with PC parts.

Its good but the six core processor and 8gb or ram aren't reallly needed for the most profound pc gamer. 4 GB DDR3 and Phenom II X4 not only will save you $300 but provide the net result you're looking for. That machine would be useful for AE or PS but I disagree with your choice to use AMD for those programs which require the hyperthreading that Intel provides.

    ---

@RUSTY - I would recommend waiting to build that PC until the 22 of July. Intel is expecting a price drop. I don't recommend having a crossfire ready PSU if you haven't yet picked out your graphics card. You should stick to a single GTX 460 or HD 5940 (if you are looking for high end performance) or going two 9800GT in SLI (again for high performance). I've never heard of raptor ram but so long as the reviews are good i suppose there is no harm though 6gb is a bit extreme for anything I think you might need it for.

Personally I run BC2 on high with a single 9800GT and 6 GB of DDR2. You don't need as much power as your nerd chills tell you.

I think 4 GB of DDR3 and a 9800GT is the ideal, mainstream PC gamer's rig. Its cheap, it works and we can skip all this nonsense about future proofing. Cutting back on the RAM as well as the the graphics card leaves you a lot of wattage to bum around with so you can probably drop that PSU's price by half.

Asus has good motherboards but I'm personally a fan of gigabyte and I think you can find a better deal on a mobo after the advice I just gave.

You seriously don't need 2tb of storage. I get by with 100gig. You wouldn't have a computer this good if you didn't have some good internet so just delete anything you can re-download and store anything valuable on an external HD. I'd spend the money on a better graphics card and probably a better power supply.

Probably not but its still cheaper and has a faster clock speed than the i5 (even after the price drop). The 'i' series is good for hyperthreading but for gaming it doesn't matter.
