Sandbox Invasion Slayer on City of Ice

    Why hello there! Are you here for more Invasion Slayer, or were you wondering how I managed to make items look icy on Sandbox (hence the thread prefix)? The 'make items look icy on Sandbox' will be explained later. No hard feelings, ice map lover.

    Now, this map is a city block in a frozen city on a frozen planet. It includes a store, gas station, museum and watchtower.

    And now, the part that you probably skipped to.... the pictures.

    ^The overview. In the bottom right, you see the Store (the 1st Human spawn hive) and a couple UNSC vehicles. Top right is the Watchtower lift, which is also beside a small building, which is the 2nd Human spawn hive. Top left is the Museum, which is the 1st Covenant spawn hive. Bottom left is the Gas Station, which is the 2nd Covenant spawn hive.

    The Human base, which is right next to the Store (1st Human spawn hive), and down a block from the 2nd Human spawn hive (cwutididthar?).

    Inside the Store. Pretty, eh? No?! The blurriness is just the icy stone. No need to get worked up about it.

    ^Inside the 2nd Human spawn, which is basically a mini-police barrack. To the left of the ramp you see at the left is the door to the Watchtower lift.

    ^The Watchtower. Best used when you have a Battle Rifle, Carbine or Beam Rifle.

    "What, no backstory?!"
    Sorry, but I don't have the time..... I might edit one in later.

    EDIT: No not a backstory, I forgot to tell how I made it look icy in Sandbox. All you do is build your map in the crypt, put Pen and Ink FX on, and put lights in. Voila, ice!

    While i am normally totally against any and all methods of filters, these actually add that nighttime feel that makes everything seem like it will be the end of the world, and allows for the attackers to use more stealth and less power. Think about those dark AvP maps that used to be popular. However, i think that the map is a little too easy to camp... Regardless of what team you are on.

    When we were testing it, people tried to camp at the spawn doors but because of the invincibility-for-15-seconds-after-you-spawn, they ended up dieing without getting a kill.

    To me 15 seconds sounds like quite a while to be invincible. In the pictures you can't see the spawns, so unless they are in far places that people don't normally go or corners, etc., being invincible could easily kill people as soon as you spawn.

    Otherwise it looks like an amazing map and I love the ice effects. I support you to create more astounding maps!

    Well, if you count the time it takes to choose a loadout, (maybe grab a weapon inside your spawn) and get out of your spawn, you'd have about 3-2 seconds left.

    Why thank you ;) I'll need to make a new gamertag first, though because my File Share will only allow me to release 2 more maps (one's in testing and one's almost done building), unless I get rid of a map that I submitted for testing before, and that would free up 2 more because it included a gametype..... (starts mumbling a way, planning the next year or so)

    Also, after I release the map that's in testing and the one that's almost done, I'll take a break from Invasion Slayer. In fact, yesterday I started a new map that will work with normal gametypes like CTF, Slayer, Team Slayer, King of the hill, Team King of the Hill, and other stuff. (BTW, if it looks right, I might make it icy like this one :p)

    Whoa the filters are mad crazy, cool though gives it a dark and mysterious feel. The lights outside of the buildings help so you can see better as well, forging is clean, good job :)

    Thanks, even though the forging isn't all that clean :/ I only interlocked and ghost merged where I needed it, so it isn't all that aesthetically great, but the gameplay was in testing.
