I am currently confused on what the Asymmetrical and Symmetrical are used for which gametypes. I'm working on a conquest map but my idea for it could also work as a FFA slayer map. For the slayer part I want an area opened up by using those options. So is Conquest Symmetrical and is Slayer Asymmetrical? Please lock as soon as it is answered

Im pretty sure that slayer is symmetrical and games like one flag are asymmetrical.

symmetrical games are when both teams are trying to achieve the same goal.
And asymmetrical is when there are two teams doing separate tasks.
    IIRC

Symetrical refers to having equal teams achieveing similar goals.

    Like Two Flag.
    Rocket Race.
    Team Slayer.
King of the Hill variants sometimes as well.

Assymetrical refers to having either unequal teams or one sided defense or attacking stances as well as individual tasks.

    Examples of that would be

    One Flag.
    Many variants Territories.
    Grifball.
    3-Bomb
    Odd-Ball in some instances

basically to test which is which set 3 items on a map and remember which is which.
Set one to Neutral put it in the middle.
Set one to Asym put it on the left.
Set one to Sym put it on the right.

When you change your gametypes the different gametypes will only spawn the given item when it is in the gametype that allows it. Kind of like if you think a path way is good for slayer but bad for 1 bomb you could set an object to not appear during team slayer but block the path during the other gametype. This allows you to create mutilple maps only by changing the properties of an object. And opening different gametypes instead of creating a specific gametype for every different map. I hope that helped.

Adding onto what other people said, and keeping it really simple:

    - Symmetric games have both sides with the same goal.

    - Asymmetric means one team has a different goal than the other team.

Also, FFA Slayer is considered assyetrical. Just something that nobody has meantioned.
Team Slayer is sym while FFA Slayer is assym.

    Put/summed up very simply...

Symmetrical: both teams attacking each other.
Asymmetrical: one team attacking, one team defending, eg zombie vs human etc. Also includes free for all (inc oddball, juggernaut, koth etc) in MOST circumstances.
