This is a drawing of a pug i did. Again, i am self taught. sorry for the glare but my picture is framed so yea. I would scan it but it doesn't fit. ~DJ Majaro
This looks ten times better than your Linda drawing over there. My pug lays down exactly like that too! I love the wrinkles.
Did you use a reference? I mean, sure, your dog, but did you take a picture of it? Even if you did, that is pretty good. I don't understand how you suck at free hand, but are pretty good at this.
I had a previous picture of a dog that was on an 8.5" by 11" paper that i used as a reference to put it onto an 18" by 12" sheet of paper. Also, i wouldn't say i suck at freehand, it's just that i don't do freehand with much detail. Aka, cartoonist.
Show this to any girl that likes dogs and bam! Anyway, much better than your previous drawing, and I love the wrinkles and shading. Good job! Can you post the reference photo?
Haha did someone use grid lines? It looks good, but your shading doesn't blend well from grid box to grid box. If you have trouble drawing free hand, I would suggest making a cheap tracing table. Just put a piece of semi-opaque plexiglass (glass store) over a fluorescent light bulb (walmart). Keep it up, man!
sorry, i don't have it anymore, i don't actually have a pug someone asked me to draw it. and now, i cant find the original picture. but i will tell you, the drawn version looks better than the original. due to the original picture not being of the highest quality.
Not bad. Just a suggestion the next time you use the grid method to enlarge a picture. Use the grid to draw just the outline. Once you have the outline, erase the grid. That way you won't be tempted to shade in each box individually. The shading will look much smoother and you won't be able to tell that you shaded in each square individually.
