Invis Download: Invis SO. I finally finished the first ever stunt track on Ghost Town! This is a short but sweet ghost town track that features an elevator above the map, an invisible building top, and a front-flip! There have been a couple fixes made to the track since it's first test race. The start ramp has been made more friendly, and I added a fence wall to the bottom of the half bank. (No more flipping) I tweaked the last mancannon, and I made the first wall at the top of the elevator double the thickness. I really like this track. It is probably one of the most unique tracks ever built, and is hella fun. Most of the track is double wide, or close to it. Its very raceable and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. The start of the race is simple, but it gets the job done. The ramp has been improved. The first banked turn leads down to a straight-away beside a large building, and below the invisible track. A half-banked turn that comes off of the straight-away. The ending of the left side has a new fence wall that prevents any flipping. The tunnel straight ends in a turn with a shield door on the left side. The ramp up to the sky has been extended to the left for a double wide thickness. There is also a of couple doors ghost-merged at the bottom to make the transition smooth. A true doble-wide section of the track. It's really fun and fast-paced. This quick straight away leads to a 90 degree turn to the left. It's really sharp, but space isn't very plentiful on Ghost Town. This is the start of the elevator under a beautiful shade tree. Scenic, but also functional. Now you have been transported above Ghost Town! The basis of this track was the invisible building top. It's really cool to drive on, but I like to stand on it and shoot at people. (Not during the race of course) The destination is at the end of this straight. The more exciting part is the front flip, which is my favorite part of the track! A lap on Invis: (IN HD!) Bungie.net : Halo 3 File Details Q. What inspired you creation? A. I wanted to make a track on Ghost Town, but I wanted to make it special. I thought it would be cool to build it above the map like SpEcTaCuLar Ra's track Frozen Palisade. So I searched through some YouTube videos until I found one that had two guys standing on an invisible platform on Ghost Town. I thought it would be cool if I could find a way to get a mongoose up there, and put it into my track. I made a prototype to see if it could be done, and I really like the result. So I got forging, perfected the front-flip, and kept going from there. Q. How long did this track take to create? A. About 40 hrs. II had to redo a couple things because of the lack of space on Ghost Town. There isn't very many objects on Ghost Town either, so that didn't help. Of course the front flip was a pain to get to land, but I really like the consistency now. All around it was a tough track. Q. What aspect of the track took the longest to make? A. Either the front-flip itself, or the track the goes over the front-flip. The problem was that the track kept interfering with the flip, so I had to get the track just the right distance from the flip. After like 7 tries I got it to where I was happy. You still hit the track occasionally, but you do, you land it almost all the time. Download: Invis
A racetrack on Ghost Town?? Is that even physically possible? I guess so. This is definately an original idea and obviously a ballsy move. I would never have attempted a racetrack here. You definately utilized every item on the map to make a one of a kind track. I'll get back with a full review as soon as I can.
Aesthetics: Ghost Town isn't very pleasing to look at, but the racetrack itself stands out. The track was really interesting looking because of the items you used to make it. Gameplay: This track is absoluetly intense! It's so close that your constantly fighting with people, which I thought was unique. Layout: It's a smaller track but don't take it for granted. This track will take you for a ride. The track looks rough, but it's actually extremely smooth, no bumps at all. It was cool how you made the tail-end of the track out of the map. When I was coming up to the part where there's no actual track but you don't fall, was trually something else. I've never seen anything else like that on a racetrack. I have to say though, that when I was going through it for the first time, the layout had me a little confused. But after going through a few laps I had it down. Also the turn that leads to the first grav-lift is a littttttttle tight, but i'll get over it. Maybe put some teleporters down for directions? Maybe you did have them but I don't recall seeing them. One more thing, about the final stretch of the map. It was a bit close to the top of the map, so it made the mongoose freak out and pushed it. It wasn't that big a deal, but it might upset die hard racetrack fans. 3/4, a beautiful racetrack with a couple downsides but overall a great track on an odd map.
Thanks a lot for the comments, and I'm glad you liked it. I ran out of money for the track, so I can't add anything else :/ I should have money glitched, but I didn't think I would run out of money before objects. I played it with 8 people the other day and it was really intense. The flip is really cool in a group of mongooses. As for the scenery, I like the trees in Ghost Town. They are really cool next to a racetrack. EDIT: Oh and how do you embed Bungie Vids here?
nice man. i didnt think it could be done. but you managed to make a succesful race track on ghost town. i never would've attempted it. very original and very well made 9.5/10
wow, i was coming in here thinking of ways to down this map for it being in ghost town (not many are good), but this is unbelievable. Your geomerging looks like it took time and patience, and thats a + for me. I played it with a couple friends, and they thought it was amazing. I love the out-of-the-map racing involved too. 5.1/5 awesome
Glad you guys like it. Forging a racetrack on Ghost Town is really tough. It was a lot of ghostmerging, and a lot of redoing track. The track is uncheatable, which was another tough goal to achieve. Oh and check out this weeks Bungie weekly update. A couple guys from Halotracks got their map featured in the race section.
Where are you getting stuck? The top of the map occasionally gets you stuck if you drive in to the elevator at a bad angle. And that I cannot fix. Apparently bungie doesn't want people driving their mongooses above the map. XD
wtfail how can he possibly know what areas you get stuck in if your dont tell him? Jesus man, thats worse than spam, its even totally useless. Anyway, ive seen this about ten or eleven times and never thought anything of it until now because i decided that if its still up it must be cool. So i popped into this thread expecting to be dissapointed and at least waste a few minutes; instead i had a hell of a surprise. Not only is this the most original and creative racetrack ive seen in ages, its well built, smooth, and just so damn fun to do! Im amazed that you managed to include the invisible ghost town roof into the map. This is the most creative thing ive seen all week, period. Actually, seeing as this week just started an hour and fifteen minutes ago for me, its the most original map ive seen since Secrecy.
Haha the top of that comment was funny. And I was going for a crazy track, that was the most creative thing ever. I enjoy just racing the track by myself, and I don't really do that with my other tracks.
I can honestly say, this is the only Ghost Towh racetrack I have ever seen. Any considering this is on Ghost Town, the track looks great. Looks pretty smooth and nice to drive on. I will have a race or two and give better feedback.
