Generator is a small symmetrical map that is compatible with Slayer, Team Slayer, Oddball, and CTF.

Notable Features: Running along the center of the map is a tunnel that leads from one side of the map to the other. The tunnel runs parallel to both bases. In the very center of the tunnel lies the shotgun. This weapon is highly sought after, especially in the early portions of the game.

After an X amount of time, two Killballs spawn above the map. They both lie on top of the map where you cannot see them. A Fusion Coil spawns in eack Killball creating the explosions. It really doesn't affect gameplay in any way, it is there to add to the atmosphere of the map. It creates nice background noise while playing.

On the base floor is a large shield door which seperates one half of the map to the other. This is where objectives spawn at the start of the match. (Oddball.) On one side there lies two Fusion Coils stuck between two arches. A good strategy or trick is to throw a grenade at the Fusion Coils while enemies are attempting to go through the shield door.

    Weapons include:
    BR X4
    Carbine X2
    Mauler X2
    Needler X2
    Plasma Pistol X2
    Plasma Rifle X2
    Shotgun X1

    Equipment:
    Bubble Shield X1
    Plasma Grenade X8
    Power Drain X1

Now that the information has passed on from me to you, let's take a look at screenshots:

This is an overview of Red Base. As you can see, the bases are quite large and take up a good 1/4 of the entire map. Blue Base is identical.

This is an image of the Shotgun Tunnel that was mentioned above. There is usually a good amount of traffic through this area at the beginning of matches and whenever the Shotgun respawns thereafter.

This is an image of the large shield door and the two fusion coils placed on one side. If done properly, you can cause a lot of damage to enemies by using the Fusion Coils.

This is the are on the outside of each base. A lot of the main battles throughout the match take place in these areas outside each base.

A final word: Thank you (in no particular order) to TheyCallMeCrazy, rooroojp, PredatoryChin, Danzig Forever, Choppy Splint (Now under the name SILENT CALLS), and pandabomb for game testing and for just being a group of a bunch of badasses. Pardon me to my friends for grammatical errors with your gamertags.

Also to the people who have supoorted me throughout the past few years in Forge, thank you.

    Thank you everyone.

I'll try to provide a screenshot of an overview of Generator. And I also forgot to mention that the map is suitable for 2-8 Players. Although 2-6 Players is preferred.

I love the shotgun tunnel. And it even looks good from the outside. Well forged. Normally I'd worry about camping up there, but its not an issue with the long, straight sightline.

However, I don't like the idea of using shields in a map with a shotgun or maulers. I just can't handle it. Only a personal thing, nothing to make a huge fuss about.

I like your forging. I assume I'll be seeing more of your stuff in Reach? Please?

I'll try get a game in sometime this weekend, but I have exams right now...so yeah.

    Enjoyment:

When I loaded up Generator for the first time, I expected a small symetrical map built in The Crypt. Unfortunately I also expected it to be fun. Generator had some serious spawning problems which completely tarnished the map's playability, which I will come to in a second.

    1/10

    Balance:

Generator is a very small map, giving all the more importance to the Maulers spawning underneath each base and the centrally placed, and occasionally sought after Shotgun. All spawns in the game belong to either the attackers or defenders, split by the centre of the map. This means that if the attackers were to push into the defender's area, the defenders have to spawn directly in front of the attackers, and vica versa. Obviously, this spawn trapping makes racking up objective points and kills incredibly easy as soon as one team reaches map superiority. If this isn't bad enough, on one end of the narrow shotgun tunnel spawns an energy drain, on the other a bubble shield. This means that whoever heads to the energy drain is going to grab the shotgun, making the initial rush strikingly similar every game.

    2/10

    Durability:

The map was impossible to escape from, and despite one trick jump that could get you on top of a gold beam in each base, it doesn't provide much of an advantage.

    9/10

    Aesthetics:

There are a few holes in the walls and floor where grenades can get lost, but it won't be blatantly obvious while you're playing. What will be obvious however are the "hops" you experience while walking from one block to another. Most of these are the tiny, impossible to avoid map bumps: one particularly horrendous jump however gives the player some serious air-time. The map is visually well rounded, but one of its best features is that it employs more than just visual aesthetics in fact, Generator sounds like its namesake: a generator. After a period of time you'll begin to hear the machanical buzzing and engine kick-starts you might expect to come from an actual factory. Sure, it might just be out of sight kill-balls and exploding fusion coils, but they are behind the scenes, and it adds a lot of atmosphere to the map. It would have been easy to fix some of the cracks and bumps, but no map is perfect, and employing a cool, and rarely used mechanic to the map is worthy of note.

    6/10*

    *[sub]4/10 without the sound aesthetics[/sub]

    Originality:

Generator is unfortunately one of the more linear Crypt maps, in fact, it feels more like a long tunnel with two ledges on each side than a map. Generator isn't like other small maps; however this isn't necessarily a positive.
