Natal will launch in the US this October with a price tag of $149.

That’s according to a trusted source, who told us that the motion sensing camera will also be bundled with the Xbox 360 Arcade console for $299.

We were informed that prices outside of the US would be determined based on a number of factors, including exchange rates. Based on current rates, the standalone unit would retail for £103 / €121, and the console and Natal bundle for £207 / €243.

Our source said that the device has been pencilled in for an October 26 worldwide launch, although we were advised that the date could yet shift by a few weeks either way.

We were also told Microsoft’s camera definitely won’t be called Natal and that its proper title will be revealed at E3 next month. It will also be heavily targeted at causal players and families.

“Microsoft expects to sell millions and millions of Natal units in its first year on the market so you can expect the software launch line-up to target non-traditional gamers,” our source said. “A major marketing campaign will also play a key role in attracting and educating the expanded audience about Xbox 360’s controller-free revolution.”

When contacted about this report, Microsoft told us that it "does not comment on rumour or speculation”.

Coupled with possible other up and coming hardware, it could be useful. It may help to advance a near motion controlled FPS is MS designs a FPS controller to go alone with it. On it's own..meh. I used my wii for like two weeks, and it was to play zelda.

I think this is Microsoft's attempt to get ahead in the family game market.

Unless a really good shooter or A ****ING RTS (voice and motion control woot) comes out for it, I won't get it.

It'll flop. At least, I won't get it.

Good games will come out for it, making them suck. It will lose hardcore fans, who are generally sedentary, and rely on precision that an analog stick or button that motion control is sure to lose. And it's ~$150. No for me.

Well first of all, Microsoft has said that they pretty much aren't focusing on the hardcore gamer at all with Natal, and this is just aimed at casual gamers.

Secondly, that's about twice as much as analysts were estimating earlier this year, and about three times as much as I'd be willing to pay for it.

Due to the fact that I'm buying the Reach Legendary Edition shortly before this, I won't buy it.

Also, to avoid this post being spam, what do you guys think about Playstation Move?

Move will be better, actually be supported by some hardcore games. However, from what I've seen/heard, most will have Move as an optional control scheme, meaning it won't be necessary, meaning I most likely won't buy it. Motion Controls are useless in their current form to hardcore gamers.

We just don't have the technology to make gaming fun without a controller yet. Some day you'll be able to step into a pod that connects to your brain and inputs images into your retinas and sends messages down your nerves to make you feel things that aren't really there. So your muscles will tense and you will feel like your walking, but you'll really just be sitting in a pod. And there will be no "cap" of how many players can be on one server. It will be so big the entire world could go online at once...

    Okay well that's what I think :p

Also, this price is only rumored. I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft doesn't announce it for the $70 or so speculated price like originally thought. After all, I can't see Microsoft charging $150 for this when Move will only cost under $100 (confirmed).

I don't think NATAL is going to hit the family game market as well as MS thinks. 360 is designed around live play and FPSes, neither of which are family game oriented. The 360 is the gamers console, and is seen like that. The Wii is simple to understand and quick to get into. Trying to convert a console that isn't the most simple thing for parents to understand to something that's family oriented isn't going to work, especially when it's coupled with a weird looking camera.
