This map looks awesome, the Kraken (both in paint and on the map) looks awesome. The gametype sounds like alot of fun too, and nice story/description.

Is this your new hell map? If so, you really started over on it then. I would've liked to see the one in the Skybubble though. I love what you did to it though. The whole thread was downright awesome, not to mention funny, but aesthetically pleasing as well. I'd imagine the gameplay would be fun too! Very nice job! :D

This map looks really cool, especially the Kraken. The Kraken kind of reminds me of Gears of War 2 but I dont know why. The city buildings are awesome too. I notice the crane and thought that was a good touch. Does it play infection? Im not sure because I didnt finish reading the post, but good job and good luck in the XForgery Challenge.

Wow! I step into the casual section for the first time and I am amazed to see a actual mini-game that I am anxious to DL! Oh! And Jakob Hunter made the map too! New Argos

    Enjoyment:
It must be confessed that New Argos, even though it has quite a bad ass Kraken, is nothing more then your typical VIP game. At the beginning of the game the defenders spawn on a high perch with a cache of weapons. They move down to the bottom, hold out for a timed event, go through a series of tunnels, hold out for another timed event, and proceed to drop down the hole to the Crypt and end the game. And throughout the whole escapade you fight off the enemy. This is a concept that has been around for most of Halo 3's three year life span. Which means that yes, it is fun, but with Halo 3's life coming to an end, people won't enjoy a map like this as much as they may have in the past.

New Argos reflects what a casual VIP game is on a regular basis. With the exception of the very interesting Kraken, there is not much that makes you want this on your hard drive apart from a few epic moments of saving your VIP and holding your ground for a difficult, but fun period of time. Though those moments are always fun, to often do you see that in a Halo 3 map. However, it is true that the Kraken will bring the eyes of a few spectators, even after three years of aesthetic master pieces.

    Balance:
Balance is one of the trickiest things to master. There is such a broad spectrum of what would need tweaks and complete reconstruction that it is almost impossible to balance a map perfectly. New Argos has a few things that could definitely be tweaked to make better, but for the most part the map is balanced enough to where there is no major problems.

However, there are random times when the attackers can easily dominate the defenders with their over shields, but at other times the defenders can completely dominate the attackers. It all depends on who wields the over shields. This causes many quick turn-around's in the game - allowing for the defenders or the attackers to quickly come back from a defeat and win, which is very frustrating for players.

    Durability:
It is always important to have a map that can not be escaped. Escaping allows for annoying exploits and annoying advantages. Which greatly brings down the quality of the game being played. From the things I've tried and others that I have gotten to try, there is no evident way to get out of the map. However, it is always possible that somebody somewhere will get out of the map.

There is one major flaw I found in the durability of the map, however. It is not an exploit that allows you to escape the map, but the attackers can easily jump through the teleporters without the assistance of the ramps that spawn later in the game. I can only assume that you mean for the attackers to be stuck in their hide out until the ramps spawn, because there would be no other real reason to have the ramps there, or to have the teleporters raised off the ground.

    Aesthetics:
The Kraken. The huge monster that consumes half the map must be noted in this. It is what this map is, and it is why this map gets its rating. From the area which you fight in, you can not see any deformities in the Kraken, or any bad forging that might hamper it's looks. This means I can not say there is anything wrong with it. Good job on the Kraken.

For the rest of the map, I also can not complain. The structures are forged as smoothly as possible, and all the structures look very nice, there is no major problems I can point out.

    Originality:
There isn't another good Kraken over the city of New Argos out there (or at least one that I'm aware of.) So in that sense the map is original. However, there are thousands of casual maps that are the very same as this. To many times do you see maps where you have to fend off the enemy to get to a specific point. And yes that can be fun, but with it done so many times, people have played it over and over to the point where they want to move on to something else. The Kraken makes this map unique, but the gameplay is what ties this into the norm.

    Overall:
    33.5/50
