SILVER CAVE Hi guys! I'm back, with my last competitive map for Halo 3. However, I will be making two more aesthetic maps. I'll talk about that later. Anyway, when I posted my first cave map, Crystal Cave, several people demanded a V2 that had more connectivity, removal of certain spawns, and a few weapon changes. The main suggestion was a map expansion, however. Crystal Cave was a 1v1 map, so this map is now a 1v1 Slayer or a 2v2 Team Slayer map! Backstory This map began it's life as an aesthetic map in the ice cave of Avalanche. A large cave filled with gleaming crystals, flowing water, and Hornet tours. Then, when Sandbox came, I moved there, and Crystal Cave became a competitive map. Now, the V2 is out. Welcome to Silver Cave. Map Features Silver cave is a symmetrical cave map. The map has two spawn caves: Red Cave and Blue Cave. Each cave has a light above it, as does the largest passage leading out from each cave. Each Spawn Cave has two passages leading out from it. One leads to the large central room, and the other leads to a tight tunnel where Battle Rifles, Grenades, and the map's Sniper Rifle reign supreme. At the center of that carnage lies the Mauler. The map was built in the Skybubble, so I could use the Skybubble's ambient sound of wind to sound like air rushing through the tunnels. Between the gunfire, you might hear the gentle whistle of the wind. The other reason this map was built in the Skybubble was so I could make death pits. The map has two. One is massive and is the focal point of the map. The other lies in a discreet collapsed tunnel that leads to the Sniper Rifle. Needless to say, fall in one, and you're done. Weapons List Battle Rifle x6 Submachine Gun x4 Plasma Rifle x2 Mauler x1 Sniper Rifle x1 Fragmentation Grenade x2 The map combines long-range, medium-range, and close-range. Battle Rifle and Duel wield weapons dominate on this map. The Sniper dominates the rear passage, due to it's straight form, and in a pinch, the Sniper can be used as a Shotgun, if you run around a corner and find yourself face to face with an enemy. Needless to say, the Mualer is good, too. If you're worried about these weapons dominating, be aware they have almost no ammo, and barely ever respawn. Plasma Rifle and SMG combos dominate on this map, due to the SMG's ripping power and the Plasma Rifle's shield- destroying power. With these two weapons, you can come out on top in most situations, unless your enemy has the same guns, or has a Mauler/Sniper. Top 4 Strategies 1. In the Sniper Rifle hallway, hide behind one of the large stones on either side of the door. Then, when an enemy runs past, raring for the Sniper, assassinate him. 2. Stick with your teammate if you're playing 2v2. As much as you both want the two power weapons, separating means being double-teamed by the opposite side. That means that they get a kill and one of the power weapons. Better to let them have a power weapon and not get an easy kill. 3. Grenades. The walls are angular, designed for good grenade bouncing. Make sure you pull those pins out. 4. Watch your footing. Many times during testing has a teammate frantically backed away from advancing enemies and backed straight into a death pit. Most people know i'm making a giant robot in Forge, called a Star Adder. But what about the other map in my signature? The one that's TOP SECRET? Well, down below Silver Cave, on Sandbox's middle level, on the largest sand dune, is the name of that aesthetic map. Most people won't know what it is, so Google Image the name written in the sand. When you see on Google Images what i'm currently making, prepare to jizz your pants (lol). If you want, you can post what you think the map will be in the commenting thread here, and I will tell you if you guessed right. I will give you a hint. I really like this. Creative idea. Love how you put the whole under the floor zone. Not really any suggestions on this map, great job.
for those of us not fortunate enough to be able to DL this map, would you minding messaging me the name of the 'top secret' map? but on this one, i do like it, but a few areas seem a bit too narrow. idk if thats wat u were goin for, but it would cause some problems w/ gameplay. like the death pit though...
Aww... This is what I've should have seen the first time. I'm digging the extra hallways and new weapons because when I played the first version, I felt extremely restricted. As always, the asthetics are top notch and the ideal topic is pretty origional. I'm depressingly ashamed that you never invited me for testing sessions. I download and get it a go...
Sorry, you were playing Dead Space while I was testing, and I didn't want to bug you... Anyway, anyone found what my next map will be yet? Remember, middle level of Sandbox, and Google Image the name!
im NOT saying that your are but i rememeber a map that was exactly like this one with the cave style and little death pits it just didnt have the lights, if its really yours, good map
I think this is one of the biggest cave map Ive ever seen. I like the little pit you made. That will be funny to watch. I have no suggestions, because I think this is pretty good. WAIT! Theres alot of BRs. I cant really tell if that will be a problem.
If you ever see it, point it out and I will go on a major killing spree to the noob that may have stolen it. If you saw it here on Forgehub, chances are it was my V1 and no noobs have to pay. Lol. To the other guy, the BRs and dual-wielding were put there on purpose so you can get your last few kicks with dual-wielding and BRs before Halo Reach.
