Hey guys! Ok so nyways i was making an asset map and i thought of the most epic idea. Can someone make an escort map where the VIP is stuck , i dunno at the top of a tower or something and players must bring the VIP back down safely. EDIT: The top of the tower was an example. Good ideas from you guys. If someone could make a map like this i would be grateful. The only problem with a map like this is however much fun it is for the people trying to save or kill the VIP, there needs to be something for the VIP to do to prevent him from becoming bored and quitting, thus causing another player to become the VIP, possible close to the destination.
That will be the main problem. Maybe the asset could activate some switches that will cause things to happen such as fusion coils falling from the top of the tower or something.
its not really an escort map if your trying to reach the asset? it seems like you may need to create a new asset spin off like asset escape or something. Seems like a cool idea, however whats preventing the asset from just jumping off the top of the tower? or whats preventing the brutes from getting to the asset? You'll definately need a switch mechanism to make this work. For example, the asset could be in a room made of wall slits with shield doors merged into them so the asset can see out but not be shot at etc... the only way out should be a hole in the roof which has a grav lift in the centre protected by a shield door, so brutes or unsc cant drop down into the hole. To get the asset out, the odsts have to get to the top of the tower and pick up a piece of equipment that allows a coil to drop and destroy an idle grav lift. This then spawns a grav lift in the middle of the holding cell allowing the asset to gravlift out the holding cell and then needs escorting back down the tower.. However.. another flaw is getting just the asset to spawn inside the holding cell...
Thanks for the idea. I actually am not sure about how id get the VIP to spawn in there. Another flaw i thought of was what would happen if the VIP died half-way down.
Thats not a flaw, thats the brute objective... unless we're on two different wavelengths? The odsts have to go up the tower, collect the asset, and escape with the asset to a new destination. The brutes, spawn in the tower, try kill the odsts before the release the asset, once releasing the asset they try to end the round by killing the asset and gaining points? However, brutes would also need an alternative way of scoring.. because they potentially cant score unless the asset is retrieved? I'll look into something for this... --- Started making a map for this, kinda have it planned out. Map will be in the skybox, it will be 4 levels high. The "ground" floor will have two pads for hornets to land on for the ODSTs to arrive. Then inside they rendevous at the first staircase (if they wish to split up) and they can activate a teleporter to gain access without flight. At the back of the building there is a landing pad for a banshee. Second floor is a long corridor that curls back on itself which leads upto the third floor. The third floor will have the brute spawn and armory on it, this will also have a tube that allows the brutes to drop down to the banshee for air to air combat at the start. The final floor will have a small room on it where the prisoner is held. The prison doorway will be covered by a shield door protecting a gravlift to keep the prisoner inside. The Brutes on the other hand can enter as they please, but once inside cannot leave either. The gametype will initially need to be changed. I've thought instead of the Asset being Virgil, it could be someone like Sgt Forge etc... Instead of them having overshields, they have standard shields, unlimited ammo, a magnum and high damage resistance with no recharging shields and extremely high damage. This then gives the brutes to either defend the tower from the ODSTs preventing them from releasing the prisoner on them, or try and kill the prisoner before the ODSTs arrive. Once the ODST's free the prisoner, they need to escape onto the banshee platform where a normal hornet will spawn allowing the prisoner and the ODSTs to escape. The ODST traits will be normal shields, no recharge. BR + SMG, will ability to pick up weapons. The reason for shields with no recharge is so its like the health in ODST. If they were all one shot kill, it'd be impossible to reach the prisoner alive. Scoring will need to be worked out... but at least this way the brutes can attempt to score by killing the prisoner and it keeps the prisoner entertained whilst the ODSTs are launching the attack.
That i think is a brilliant idea. What i meant by "What would happen if the VIP died". i meant can you make sure the VIP will spawn back in the cell and make it possible for the ODST's to retreive the VIP again. if you send me a PM when your done. Ill test it and im pretty sure i can get Rifte to test it to. It should be fun
The round ends when the VIP is killed so the respawning back in the cell is irrelevant --- Maps finished, Just called it tower for now.
