Oasis Created by: Spaceneil8 & Ix_Atticus_xI Recommend Players: 2-8 Recommended Gametypes: Team Slayer, Team Ball, Multi-Flag, MLG Variants The second Forge Hub feature from the illustrious MLG Forge Forum Map Pack 2, Spaceneil's Oasis brings to life the elements of a Halo 2 classic that so many others have tried to craft. With heavy inspiration from Sanctuary, Oasis gives a competitive stomping ground that can be played with everyone's favorite, overly restrictive and unfairly Battle Rifle biased Major League Gaming (or something like that) settings. However, there is an exponentially better version that can be played with Halo 3's most balanced and skill oriented weapon, the Assault Rifle. So if you are one of those boring losers who likes to be all "competitive" and stuff, you can go ahead and play the "MLG" version, or you can live on the wild side and play with every weapon in the game (or at least those placed on the map), because Spaceneil has so gratefully provided multiple versions. There is even a Snipers variant, if you wanna be THAT much of a chump. I bet you thought the write up was going to be one of those boring, over-glorification-of-map-with-no-real-content write ups, huh? Yeah it started that way but then I was too bored to write it and no one reads them anyway. However in all seriousness, it must be said that Spaceneil has done an excellent job creating one of the best Sanctuary remakes (I think I can use that word) to date. This is something that's been tried numerous times throughout the life of Sandbox and until now hasn't been widely successful. This map is not only forged perfectly, it's actually gorgeous in terms of a competitive map. However, since none of you play Halo 3 anymore; Forge Hub, MLGpro.com and Spaceneil have been working together with DICE and Infinity Ward to bring Oasis to a Battlefield Bad Company and Modern Warfare near you. We recognize that these are the premiere games in eight player combat and want all of you to have the opportunity to check out Oasis. Or you could just congratulate Spaceneil on his feature. Oh yeah, Atticus made this too (v2 changes). You are awesome Atticus. Wow....Nice Job on Oasis! Lets get to it.... Analysis: What I like most about oasis is the simplicity of it. Forgers too often over complicate their maps to make them epic and fantastic. What people don't realize is that the best maps aren't the ones that have extravagant sloppiness, but rather the best maps have well placed objects that benefit both the game-play and the prettiness to the eye. Oasis has shown all forgers that this can be achieved with ease. Summary: You sir have made a map that Bungie wishes they had made first. Right now they sulk over what could have been. On behalf of myself and every other forger, I say thank you. Rating: 5/5 Old School Rating: VERY OLD SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a feeling this map would get a feature. It certainly deserved it. Congrats to Spaceneil and Atticus. EDIT: The map was inspired by Sanctuary not Sanction.
Same here. I always really enjoyed the design and feel of this map. I'd like to think that my support helped it get here
Ah, it's cool..I got it right the second time. No but seriously thanks for noticing. I'm pretty sure Sanction is Zombievillan's map? Not really similar.. lol
This is a very fun MLG map. I didnt really know what map would be featured next because there were so many good ones but I cant disagree at all that this map does not deserve a feature. I played this map a considerable amount of times and found gameplay to be really fun, alot of the things on the map really stood out to me especially the bases. Congrats on feature guys!
Congrats on the feature. This is one of the few Competitive Maps I keep on my hdd. I can't wait to see your future work.
Seriously finally this map should have been auto featured from the begging, this map captures the essence of Sanctuary, i felt at home playing this map. Very well deserved for an amazing map.
Great layout that is perfectly symmetrical + Expert forging , a perfect copy of the sketchup = well deserved feature.Congrats dudes!
I lul'd at your write up chrst. Nicely done... oh yeah, and, cool map bro. 5/5. But 4 srsnss, this map does look pretty dope and I'll think I'll actually check it out. Too bad I'll more than likely never get a game on it.
Bout f***ing time they feature this beautiful work of art. Out of all of the maps in the map pack I only kept about three or four, with this being one of them. Great map.
Thank you so much. I am completely shocked by this feature. Big thanks to everyone who help test this map. Atticus deserves a lot of credit; v2 never would have happened without him. I prefer to call Oasis a Spiritual Recreation. The design tried to recreate the original Sanctuary style of play in Halo 3. The geometry is not trying to replicate Sanctuary exactly (the bases/corner are very different from Sanctuary), but the gameplay elements transitioned well. Thanks FH, and be on the look out for my next map Surreal.
Awesome Little late where I am now, so I don't have time to download this very cool map. However, and I myself am just an average skill forger, am amazed by the complexity of this map. Based off of a classic Halo 2 map, and it went the right direction for fame. I'd like to play on it sometime, and experience what I couldn't from Halo 2 on Halo 3.
I have played many maps like this in the past, and it seems very similar to other maps. As for the gameplay, it plays very well in MLG and team slayer, but that's about it. What I would recommend is to add more walkways, bridges, and possibly tunnels. That would make the map more unique. In it's current state though, I don't believe the map deserves a feature.
