I've been meaning to buy a new computer for a while now, and finally saved up the money. I've been using the post below as my foreground. I'm planning on buying the below parts, but before I do I'd like some criticism if possible. I'm planning on spending 800-1000$, and realized with that money it's better off buying parts rather than an entire computer.

What I'm looking for is a good gaming computer, that can sustain good graphics. I'd also like to watch HD videos on youtube. And primarily just run smoothly. I'm up for new screen suggestions also.

I'm also wondering if this graphics card is good, or if there are any better ones for around the same price. Thanks.

My want to update the build a tad. Products are still excellent, though. You might want to consider the i5 or i7 depending on what you do on your computer.

Sorry for having no complete knowledge of computers, but what's an i5/7? Is it a graphics card, or a processor? Thanks for replying, lol.

i7 is the processor. I might be mistaken, but the i7's are four dual threaded proc. allowing the computer to recognize 8 processors. Theres more to it, but I can't remember for the life of me right now.

One monitor? No no no no no. Get two monitors, trust me, you will NOT regret it. It will let you run other programmes while gaming as well as other things.

Great choices, though the graphics card, i have the same one with twice the graphics ram and it only uses 300 watts for the same price. Look for a better deal on that. Its a great graphics card btw though.

    Alright, thanks I thought so.

Well, that sounds like it will be more money, but I'll look into it.
Alright, that sounds good. And you're telling me to lower the 750 watt,, to something lower right? I'm very inexperienced in computers, so I'm just trying to clarify everything.

Plus I always have to be certain. So this is a question to everyone, just to make sure (This probably sounds stupid), before I buy all these parts are they sure to be compatible with eachother? Is this all I need, and I'm ready to go.

Thanks for all the replies too guys, it really helps.

I'm not too sure on the specifics of that motherboard+graphics card combination and its power requirements, but that's basically what defines the wattage you need from the power supply. I can't imagine Nitrous would have chucked in a high wattage PSU for the sake of it, so for that build you'd probably want to check with him (or someone else with experience building PCs with this kinda hardware) before swapping out something like the PSU, getting an underpowered one will mean your computer just doesn't work when put together.

Imo this is exactly the attitude you should have if you're putting a PC together yourself but aren't that confident with hardware etc. You're shelling out a lot of money here, and with high end parts, buying something that won't work is a mistake not worth making. Definitely worth making sure before you commit to start buying stuff.

Btw, are you going to be assembling this yourself? It's actually not too difficult (and pretty satisfying imo).

The only thing that I can think of off the top of my head (that also fits your budget) is this. This, to let you know, is the Alienware M11x, an 11" gaming laptop. However, also Alienware is this, which although huge (it's a desktop, BTW, and it's a computer, not a monitor), looks extremely awesome.

The laptop is $799 and the desktop is $999.

Yeah, I'll probably browse some Computer forums later to see the deal with the PSU. As you said though, I probably won't go wrong on buying it.

Lol, yeah I'm always self assuring when doing things like this. And yes, I suppose I will put it together, with help of course. I've heard it's not too difficult also, and will probably just run up some tutorials online if I need help.

I'll look into that also if it fits my personal likings. Thanks for helping me out guys, it's very appreciated.
