Hello ForgeHub, this is my first map post here and I want everyone's opinion on my upcoming map. This is my first attempt at a race map and I want to know how I can improve it, please give me all of you'r opinions. This is the starting point, the teleporter is there so i can get to the track faster. First Hill Two Banks What I Have So Far The Tube Pieces are for the enemy team spawn. The enemy spawns out of there and tries to kill the other team as they are racing. But with the way the map is turning out, this will ending up being another race map. Also I dont know why one image is not centered
I gotta tell you anthraxe, it is looking pretty good so far. I would still remove that little zigzag part in the last picture but that's just my opinion. I would also post the way the gametype is setup if you still think you are going to do that, but just my opinion. Keep up that sexy merging anthraxe.
I think it'll probably need some barriers putting in place on those harsh banks xD Other than that, it'll be a good ride
^ try without barriers at first, and by the way, i dibs on testing... that looks like a turn I have never seen in halo race tracks before... some kind of "m" turn? also with the side on pic, did you start the code on a new line? or on the same as the line above (with text) as that may of changed it
On the inside but not on the outside. A skillked racer will be able to maintain spees around that corner and sort of cut the corner a bit.
i've heard of some sort of beast racetrack... anyways, you know what i'd like to see someone name there track? something that sounds like a racetrack name... i dont know what exactly, but "the beast" isnt race-tracky EDIT: also, make the gametype just the standard racetrack much easier, and when i see racetracks i want to try, i dont bother with cutom gametypes
I really like the look of this track. Contrary to most opinions here, I think the hard curves/zigzags should be left as they are. people who like race tracks (like me) are quite good at simple curves, I think this one might be an actual challenge. if it were mine, I'd name this after a curvy hill road. maybe Mulholland (in LA), or Lombard (that zigzag thing in san fran)
The zig-zag part could trip alot of racers up but that is not always bad. Usually race maps have a loop track so people can pass the destination multiple times but that depends on the gametype you have planned. Could you tell us more about the gametype for this.
I could tell you about it, I gave him most of the ideas for the gametype even though he thought of the main map. He'll probly get irritated about it but whatever he can get over it . It is based off of zombieland when the guy is on the roaller coaster and he is shooting all of the zombies with a shotgun. Alright so it's One sided VIP where VIP goes around on the track and there are only 2 teams. One team is zombies and other team is the guy and his team. They all can drive and all have shotguns(I believe that is how he set it up) so that you can sort out who is driver and who is shooter. The zombies basically chase them(they have 300% speed) or wait for them to come by and then rush with all the other zombies. That is how I thought of how it will play out, not sure on how the scoring will go though because he already has it setup, just need to test how it plays.
The map is called The Beast and it was made by my bud DIEabolical. It was on a version 3 recently and a cool track. Do not take That name... I like the idea of Lombard St. Or you could call it something about the ocean and waves, or wind currents that go in circles. Words relating to that usually sound cool. One worry for driving that- there are sharp turns and little banking which is difficult. I like the idea of a race track that would incorporate drifting though! I agree-get some inside railings like gold columns. I also agree with the make it just like the other racetracks in terms of scoring.
Wow I was not expecting all of this feedback for my first post, thanks! Anyway I will set up a test time when the map is complete, and yes kilimanjara14 did help with the ideas for this map.(Got you'r satisfaction now?) I will keep everyone updated on how the map is turning out. I do agree that it does need barriers. By the time I posted this I put up shield doors and barriers since then.
Haha, thanks anthraxe, btw where the hell were you all day? Anyways, to make this not spam, even though people haven't seen this, but on that part where you have a jump, do you know if you could go like underneath it? Just an idea. EDIT: i also gotta show you this kickass map I have started.
dude youve done alot since i looked at it haha, let me know if you want some help. This is one of the coolest/cleanest maps iv seen.
Just so you know, shield doors are a pain in the ass when driving.. unless they've been positioned perfectly so you dont flip/ roll/ fly/ fall of the map... And i think i mentioned to you before, the vehicles bounce of a shield door, but if they bounce you and roll you towards another shield door, the vehicle will stop and bounce back but the player will just keep going and fall off the map xD so just be careful where you place them!!
That 'M' turn looks interesting, and you should leave it. I think most people can make it through without falling. New pics?
