People ask me why I don't date much, and it's this "2 week effect." When I get in a relationship, I get in it because I know her well and know it'll last a while. Last relationship: 9 months ago Duration: 4 months... Not very long, but considering I'm a freshman, that could be a freakin record!
If only. Yeah i think its basically what insane said, if you're lusting after someone and actually manage to get it on then it could feel like love I guess. I think the racing adolescent hormones probably wear off after 2 weeks and your not blinded by the lust so all the little things creep up. That said, I've never had a serious relationship. Just a series of one night stands with the same girl over a period of a couple of years.
8 years and she hasn't killed you yet...good work. And to actually add to what you are saying my relationship started in 10th grade, and 10 years later we're still goin strong. I guess you can find love in high school...but what do i know.
well, my last relationship out my two that I've had lasted a little under 3 months, then I guess she lost feelings for me even though I hadn't. she dumped me the day before I was going to give her a cd of songs I wrote. (I know I didn't love her, but I know I could have if she didn't dump me) anyways, sometimes (more oten than not) people just get tired of being around someone.
Yeah, I was with my girlfriend for a few months, then she dumped me yesterday. I don't really give a crap, it kinda pissed me off that other guys wanted me to "turn a blind eye" while they tried to get her to cheat on me. Anyway, two week effect, I've seen it before, I've done it before, but interestingly, I've seen more 'long term' love/relationships/whateva than two week effects. Just an observation.
Maybe if you say somehting neutral, they'll not break up? If this is the case, then you're responsible for 47 break-ups But yeah, I'm 17 and at least 50% of the girls around me in college I see as desirable, but if you talk to some of them...
Hmm. True. A lotta the girls at my school are hot, man. But talking to them... My girlfriend broke up with me for some weird reason - I'm not even sure what it was. It's better for me though, she was acting kinda bitchy the last few weeks.
Its sad that you say its better for you because you didn't want to deal with her 'bitchyness', because all women will ***** as some point with there boyfriend. I'v dealt with my girlfriend a many a times, but I could care less eitherway being I love her so much ; )
sucks if you have to buy them dinner over and over. but its not. It is physically, but when you're too old to get yo' grove on. you'll be sleeping in a single bed. a Lonely single bed. Long term relationships are best for settling down, till your ready people really just do their own thing...
If you want, you can just focus on the fact that relationships will always end in one of two ways; either one/both of you die or you break up. Cynical enough for you? I would like to add at this point that even though that is actually true it does push me towards taking the view of "Just take everyday as it comes and look at the present, rather than worry about the future". Yeah I thought I was bitter before I came here... I think the 'Two Week effect' just comes down to what everyone has said; its people rushing into a relationship and realising its not meant to be. Sure it might seem like that ideal thing to do at the time but once you've got past the whole 'Wooo your good looking yay' bit you notice that the other half is as boring as hell and you have absolutely nothing to do, minus take pictures of yourself making out and post them on facebook in a facade to maintain to others that your relationship is meaningful when really your just a chav who thinks people actually care about those pictures. This is made more entertaining by the fact that they have to remove them days later due to being left by the orange tart for enough intoxicated bloke... So yeah...
I want to stress though that it isn't relationships of a two week length I was writing about, it was months and months of a relationship, someone says they love the other, then dump then dump that same person in 2 weeks. That's why I noticed as being so weird.
Kinda off topic, on topic; Ive been with my girlfriend for 11 months, tomorrow in fact. I still love her with every muscle in my heart. (lol.) But hey, i know what your talking about, happens at my school too. IMO, your on to something, if psychology is your interest, pursue this question.
You're now banned from this thread. It sounds good matt but it really isn't, more aggro that its worth.
Man, you are a rolemodel. But consider yourself lucky, you said she was your first girlfriend. Well everytime a girl find out I like her she starts to get a "You like me, therefore I hate you attitude." Even if we are best friends! So enjoy your happiness buddy, enjoy it for all us lonely people out here in the cold.
The two week effect (after start of relationship) is pretty much a standard at my school. People insult me: "You haven't had a girlfriend, (insert relationship/sexual insult here)." To which I respond, "Yeah, well at least I don't go out with people for two weeks, and then get dumped because you're a **** head." I mean, if you going to get into a relationship, then why ask someone out unless you're pretty sure that its going to last longer than a month.
