I raised the togepi from Platinum into a togekiss, so I decided I didn't want to go to full togekiss with my togepi this game so I have it at togetic, which means I got an extra shiny stone if someone wants to evolve it.
Did anyone else lose hours of their childhood to their red/blue/silver/gold glitching and losing the ability to save? I think they fixed that in the 3rd gen (ruby/saphire) but I'm not sure.
i glitched sooo much in Blue, the missingno glitch and duplication glitches. I never lost the ability to save or anything bad though. My Crystal did straight up died on me.
Same and same, weird.... I loved Crystal so much, the last one I played. My friend had it too, decided to restart his save and gave me his lvl 30 Suicune just as I was starting. That thing was a godsend, never disobeyed me once and lead my team till the end of the game where it was lvl 96 without any rare candies. Luckily for me, my copy died after I was done playing seriously, completed the game then decided to play around with it again after like 6 months, then it died .
I nostalgia'd. Lvl 140+ Haunters, Electrodes, Kangaskhans, the right side of Cinnibar Island, infinite rare candies and masterballs, and a seemingly magical patch of data that knew Fly. Was so win, when my cousins came from Tanzania to the U.S. with their PS2 and Gameboys, I stole their Blue, found my younger brother's Toys R Us Special edition Onyx Gameboy Advance, and proceeded to rampage through the first gym leaders to get to Cinnibar.
dude, my crystal was ****ing insaaaane. as i said in my other post, it was the closest i had ever come to completing my pokedex without cheating. i had just finished training my Tyranitar too... that's where i grew an obsession with Kingdra. FFFFFUUUU. apparently all the original generation II game cartridges are time bombs because of the internal clock systems. --- hahahaha dude, that was such a ****ed up glitch. i dont know how somebody figured it out. "okay, talk to the guy in viridian city who teaches you to catch pokemon blah blah surf on the right edge of cinnibar annnnnd MISSINGNO WOOO" the box glitches were funny though, i'm pretty sure you could duplicate items too, i dont remember too much. Also in Red or Blue did anybody else completely skip the seafoam islands and safari zone to get to cinnibar by going around? This made it so when I got to victory road like "YAY YOU HAVE ALL THE GYM BADGES YOU'RE READY" i got like halfway through and walked up to this rock that was like "MAYBE A POKEMON CAN MOVES THIS" and thought "WTF" and i couldnt figure it out for the longest time. Really, all i wanted to do was get to the elite four... I then read up on it and realized i ****ed up by skipping getting strength, which is important or something.
Just finding MissingNo. made the 6th item in your Item folder multiply by I think 100. That does it. I'll see if I can Find that Blue version and a Gameboy.
I remember the good old pokemanz back in the day. I've been thinking of picking up Soul Silver just for the lulz. What do you all have to say about it? Sorry, I've got the Flu at the moment and my powers are weakened, I don't think I've got enough focus to attempt to read throughout most of the thread.
Yeah, I got an emulated version one time that kept whining about the time not keeping set or something. I seem to remember it made the various time of day related things a real problem, but this was a while ago so it's pretty foggy tbh. Again, this is relying on pretty hazy memories now, but I seem to remember running in to this the first time I played my brother's version of Blue. Either that or a friend did, I remember finding it frustrating.
If you liked the original gold or silver, i highly recommend it. It's just like old times and places, with all the new features. Really, this game is huge and i dont think an old pokemon fan like yourself would disapprove.
To contribute to the thread, here is my Platnium friend code: 3953 8961 0901 and for those competitive battlers, this site could come in handy under References. For me, I spent the most time with either the second generation (Gold, Silver Crystal), or the third generation (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald). I've trained multiple pokemon to lvl 100 in both gens, but never EVed, then power lvled, which is what I hope to do while breeding for moves and beneficial natures. My favorite games would have to be Gold, Silver, Crystal, because they actually had a link to a previous game that was more than a returning character, or a brief mention of something irrelevant. Also, they had the most to do, so on those facts alone, with the additions of events like the Celebi and Shiny Pichu (which today is last chance to get one, Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum owners), and WiFi, Soul Silver and Heart Gold seem so awesome. I want a Red Gyarados with a good nature, good memories of Pokemon Stadium 2 with that thing...
Red scares me, I would have lost if I had not had my trusty electivire. All of his pokemon have such high defence and his snorlax is down right annoying. He doesnt even say hi to you, and what is he doing at the top of the mountain? Was he going to jump...
Nostalgia made me buy Heart Gold, just because I was addicted to the regular gold when I was younger... A shame there are only around 250 pokemon in Heart Gold though... But whatever... I already have about 34 lol

I just beat Jasmine, here is my team. 12 Eevee 31 Ampharos 28 Heracross 31 Crobat 12 HM Slave; Nidoran 29 Croconaw God, I SUCK at leveling my team. I think I'm going to level-***** them all up to at least 35.
I got up there and was like "yo ash battle me" and he was like "whatever i can beat any girl" (my character is a girl). So then once we were in battle i took off my fake breasts to reveal that i was actually Gary Oak, pokemon master (my characters name is GaryOak). He couldnt ignore my girth and just took it. So after i destroyed his whole team i said "smell ya later ashy-boy." He got real angry and disappeared. i laughed at his incompetence.
Man.... he is the one guy in a pokemon game I have never beaten. I can't wait to get HG or SS for a rematch. (I'm too scared to do it on my gold because it may glitch not save and die)
