Today I've found two very interesting articles from Kotaku, one stating that there will be a new 250 standalone Hard Disk coming out soon and another article that states that there will soon be an update sometime this spring that will support any external USB storage devices to store your games, movies, downloads, and etc. It says that it must be at least 1 GB and up to 16 GB with the ability to use two at one time. I think this is great news, yet personally I couldn't see myself spending 130 dollars for a 250 GB hard drive, when I can get one for my computer with quite a lot more memory. The USB memory storage update is something I will benefit from though, along with many other people. Excellent! I like the price tag on the 250. USB storage would be extremely handy, slap in a 8GB and carry all the arcade games you need wherever you go.
That's cool and all, but getting a 250 from M$ is a gigantic ripoff. You could get the same thing for much cheaper from other sources, you just have to look around.
I never liked the prices on the Xbox's HDs. I mean we're moving up in today's technology. We have 2 terabyte storage capablity. I can buy a 500 GB external HD for $80, so why is a 250 GB xbox HD $130!
Sorry to bump this thread, yet I have a viable reason. This update was done today for those that haven't gone on xbox in a while like myself, or even for those that haven't been on today. Also, some more information below: Below article can be found here: LINK
Microsoft is also selling brand name "Xbox 360" Flash Drives for about double of the exact same unbranded, I hear.
Is it possible to use this to push the custom limit to a higher number? I think I heard someone saying they had a 200 limit but I wasn't sure how...
I'm guessing by switching over from your Xbox Hard Drive to Hard Drive "y". of course, you would need your account on both hard drives, and with that, you would have to log out of live.
I have a bad feeling that this will promote people dl'ing games via the internet, cracked versions. I'm sure MS has considered that. Some geek will have a whole site dedicated to getting free arcade games, etc...
I'm surprised that no one threw this out there, but does this allow players to bypass Halo 3's 100 file content limit?
You COULD count this as a second Hard Drive, so I would say yes... Only if you're willing to sign out of your account to select the other Hard Drive.
i find it slightly retarded and pisses me off. i mean, i bought the CoD MW2 system because it looked sweet but mainly because they said the 250gb harddrive wouldnt appear standalone. NOW of course they brought it out, bastards. i coulda just had the harddrive but oh well. money grubbing bastards! BAH!
