Apology for Jumpers Spoiler Lol, well... after reading through my terrible rant at some of your replies I never actually got round to replying to, Just wanted to say SORRY! Yeah, I was damn straight out of order blaming 99.9% of Americans for boosting. (its probably closer to 99.6%) JOKE! But seriously, I was unbelievably pissed at the chances of getting these people in my games so consistantly in Halo, then changing games, and getting people equally as retarded on other games. Sorry to all you American's out there, and Black Theorum, good points, I guess you slide into that 0.01% But anyway, to justify this threads worth. Does anyone have any suitable suggestions / preferences to what the NEW Ranking System will be like in Reach? (if theres gonna be a new one at all)
Although the trueskill system makes me incredibly mad because my massive amount of EXP (Social addict) keeps me from touching the next skill level, I wouldn't want the stupid CoD system which confuses skill with playtime... I don't want to see the highest rank being a doorway to everyone. I just want the same system that they have now, but less exploits.
I would like the true skill to stay the same but they have to fix up the xp glitches with the trueskill. the ranks are all fine but i don't really mind if they were to change it.
I agree that the ranking system in CoD isn't the greatest, but it actually does show a bit of skill, or at least experience. The more you play - The more you prestige and you figure out the best hiding spots and lines in sight when your playing Team Deathmatch or Domination. And you figure out the best routes to run or what common routes the enemies run in Search and Destroy. So you do get better the higher rank you are because you figure out ways to dominate the game. I'd always bet that a legit 10 prestige would be better than a 2nd prestige anyday. Like I said, I agree that the ranking system in CoD isn't as good as Halo's but it still does show some skill.
True, but it the rating system in cod determines on experience, and the experience can either be gained by killing enemies in team slayer for a small experience reward, or camping in domination and retrieving a large experience reward, and even then, you get weapon experience rewards which can sometimes just be sheer luck. I'd put my money on the guy with the larger K/D Ratio to win outta the 10th prestiger and the 2nd prestiger only because when i played, i bought the game a good few months after it was released, and i joined the game with no map/ weapon knowledge and i still had a K/D ratio of at least 4.00+ for the first 20 or so games. (Its now something retarded after i decided to go on a throwing knife frenzy thing and completely ruined the kd ratio xD) But yeah, i'd damn well appreciate a new and improved trueskill system, one without pittyful exploits and one where it actually means your a decent player reaching the highest rank.
I personally really like the bad company skill system. It rewards for teamwork and skill both, not for playtime. Also, though it takes a while to rank up, every match is a step towards it, which is nice. I really hate a system that relies on whether you win a game or not to determine rank. What if you have the shittiest team known to man?

Wow, thanks man... Bungie have seemed to take on board everything put towards their old faulty system and have come up with possibly the best rating system. From my understanding, the highest rank would be Onyx, but you need a certain number of average ranks higher than another certain number to be able to obtain that rank? Sounds beast either way... i cant wait
Nah i never really digged those coloured circles.. never really looked like your achieving anything but a number...
The system could be exactly the same, i do not care. I like the system of halo 3, xp shows how much you play, skill shows how good you are (generally, unless you bought it, or boosted with better players). i can't think of a better system
That makes perfect sense.. you say you cant think of a better system yet pointed out the two biggest flaws in the system what makes everyone dislike it? After reading through the thread with what Reach Ranking is going to be like, im damn well happy with their decision to change it. I reckon it'd be a 10x better rating system
