So tonight, my Windows Expplorer.exe stopped working. I restarted my computer to correct the problem, and I learned that files were corrupt on my computer. I did a system recovery to the night before, and everything is now fine.

I found the crash in question:
    Code:
    Problem signature
    Problem Event Name:	AppTermFailureEvent
    OS Version:	6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3
    Locale ID:	4105

I want to see why anyone might know what my explorer.exe consistantly crashes once I exit a full screen game, or in this case bringing my computer to Blue Screen.

Explorer.exe is responsible for the management of your entire display: your taskbar, windows, icons, etc. You'll see that if you purposely end explorer.exe, all of the former will disappear.

    A few things to try:
-run your games in windowed mode
-end explorer.exe right when you are beginning the game and restart it once you are done

I'm not too sure I should do this. Even though I could open my task manager and restart it once done, that is definitely much more of a hassle than anything.

Still, would anyone know a reason why explorer crashes randomly like this?

do you have windows 7? 3rd party screensavers will cause the taskbar to dissapear sometimes on windows 7

I've had this same issue happen to be before with fullscreen games. Its not really a hassle at all. It takes 2 seconds on both ends. Just press Ctrl Alt Del, select explorer.exe and end task, then when your done, Ctrl Alt Del, new task, explorer.exe.

The issue might be with compatibility of the game with windows 7.

Then it might be a compatibility issue with vista. Either way, same fix.
