Hey guys, I'm kinda new to Xbox 360 and as of now the only game I have is Halo 3: ODST (which of course came with the Halo 3 Multiplayer disc). However, it is from my understanding that Halo 3 has its own campaign. I have played a little of it, maybe one level at my friend's house, but I was wondering, as Halo: Reach will be out in less than a year or something, would the regular Halo 3 be worth purchasing just for the campaign?

I'd say no...the campaign was fairly mediocre and really just serves a purpose as the "story". If you're going for good story experiences, Halo 1 is a good bet (you can get it on the Games on Demand, or just pick it up at Gamestop, or for the PC)...next best is probably ODST, though in terms of story it just fleshes out the time in between 2 games.

If you're really into the Halo lore, 3 gives some information but really reading a synopsis online would probably be more engaging and less time consuming (and no Cortana level)

I've beaten Halo CE and Halo 2 back when I had the first Xbox that I shared with my roommate. I was just wondering if I should buy Halo 3 just so I could see what happened as far as the story. However, I could probably just read about what happened somewhere online. And since Halo: Reach will be a prequel I wouldn't really need to know what's happened in Halo 3 until a new game continues its story.

Until I decide whether or not to buy it, no spoilers, please!

How about a rent? Stores like Blockbuster usually have some games to rent, Halo 3 is probably easily gotten. It's like 8-10 hours of gameplay, so you won't need it for very long, either.

I can't believe I didn't think of that. There was in fact a Blockbuster Video not too far from where I live. I'm not sure if it's still there, though. I haven't been to it for ages.

I actually enjoyed the halo 3 campaign. But it is worth the rent for sure. I'm sure you could finish it in a few hours on normal, a day or two on legendary(but you said you just wanted the story, so normal should be fine.)

i think halo 3 would be a good look at, seeing as it will be cheap, and it wasnt as bad as some people make out, it just could be better. its all subjective in the end

its funny how reach gets the best rating but it hasn't been released and barely been seen.

If you want to have all the armor, I'd bother to do it once on legendary. If you don't care that much, don't bother. It is a fun campaign (i don't remember it being confusing), better if you do it with a friend. Plus, if you want recon, you need it to do one of the vidmasters. Considering you can get a used copy for under 20 bucks sometimes, i'd say its worth it.

But then, I'm a big halo nerd :p so of course it'd be worth it to me

I noticed that too. It could be awfully confusing and cumbersome, for all we know....

I doubt that it will be though . :)
