    Hey forgehub

Just thinking of starting up a map pack based around a Racing variant called SPRINT. An overview of the gametype is below.
Anyway, this map pack will be started in a about 1 and a half weeks due to me just finishing Bioshock 2 on Hard and something school related (which you don't need to know about).

    SPRINT Gametype explaned:

This gametype may have already been created but nevertheless, here is a description.
The variant is based of the official RaceTracks variant but the score to win is 3. The tracks to go with this variant are not loops but rather a sprint race from a ---------> b. The "3" comes from there being 3 checkpoints along the way, with the third being the end. This allows any stragglers to have the possibility of catching up if the leader makes a mistake.
Now you're probably thinking "If you crash and die you'll have to go back to the start!"-
    WRONG!
-The tracks will not be located in the skybubble, be above the ground or have any death inducing objects (except spikies :p).

    There you have it.

    Now THA maps:

    Dune Runner -
A giant half ring in the desert of sandbox. The track would have close quarter areas, open areas, split level areas, spikies :p and sweet jumps.

    What do you think?

The outcome would be the same. If you are in first place, then you are in first place. It doesn't matter if there are three score lines on the track or not. It's an ok idea, but I don't really see enough of a change to make a new game variant.

I think I can get this idea to work, just give it some time.

You could maybe make a map on standoff. After all, it won't have to be a closed track.

I have already started working on Dune Runner and realize that there aren't any other maps big enough to create a suitable length sprint.
This means there is going to be no map pack, just a map and gametype.

Honestly, I think this would be cool if you removed the vehicles and made running speed faster and gravity a little higher.
    Make jumping/running courses.
When I saw Sprint I thought of Mirror's Edge.
Put various powerups on the board that would make your guy faster and/or slow others down.
hell if you don't do this I will.
    I like this idea =D

The SPRINT gametype is now setup, and it works well. Now I just need to make the epic Dune Runner map to go along with it.

    SPRINT gametype:
    - 10 points to win
    - 10 points for reaching the end
    - Players are slow and have high gravity + cant die or kill each other (except assassinations in which you lose 20 points for)
    - There will be a custom power up which makes you faster than a mongoose and lighter for a minute and a half (probably will decrease length). Risky to get as you could lose trying.
    - If you die (which will be impossible to do) you will re-spawn in an observation box.

    Dying is possible by assasination.
People will have odd numbers of points by the end of the round so it must end by time not score.
This would basically end up like a linear rocket race variant, but without the rockets to make it interesting. It really need something else to play well.

As Dream said, I don't know why you can't just make it a loop. I would think this gametype would get boring faster than normal racing, but I am fairly intrigued and have some suggestions.

I don't know if you are still thinking about using three destinations, but I don't think that would work out better than just having one checkpoint at the end, have the round end after that, and begin again.

Use multiple rounds. Think about using random spawning obstacles. Having to adjust to different obstacles each round will add to the fun, keep racers on their toes, and keep people interested longer.

Make sure to use starting gates to keep the start fair.

You can't set up Assassination points in a VIP gametype, so you might make starting boxes to keep people from assassinating in the beginning.

Don't use powerups... That is just going to dumb down a possibly great gametype. Make it so people actually have to be good drivers to win.

Like I said, these are just some ideas I have to possibly make the gametype and maps better.

assassinations give you -20 points, making it impossible to win. I'll remove custom power up idea. Starting gates will be there. Random spawning obstacles -> yes. One destination only because otherwise the round couldn't end if three different people got 3 different checkpoints.

Overall this is merely a test to see if it works and whether or not it should be continued.

Just though of an assassination deterrent. If you get assassinated you'll re-spawn in an observation box with a sniper and instant kill abilities.
