Well, Halo: Reach is supposed to be set right before Halo CE, and The Flood showed up late into the story of that game. Honestly, I don't expect the flood in Reach, but I could be wrong.
I dought they will be in. Halo wars had a good excuse with the ship never contacting any other humans about it. Idk how they could get away with it on Reach because the crew of the pillar of autumn had their first encounter on the halo. People would know if it happened on Reach.
I really doubt there will be flood in Reach. Not only would it not make sense story-wise, but most people don't seem to want to have to fight flood again. I didn't miss the flood at all in ODST and I think most people felt the same way. By the way, Reach did not appear in Halo Wars
No, the flood wont be on reach because the first encounter is on the halo ring. plus nobody likes the flood, i expect something other than what were used to though, they probably have a couple new covenant species thought up for reach instead of flood.
I LIKE the flood...I think Bungie will find a way to slip them in, and they break up gameplay which is their main purpose.
Maybe the reason the Elites glassed Reach is because of a Flood infection that the humans didn't know about... jk. I doubt we'll be seeing the flood. I agree with Meta though, the Flood introduce alternative gameplay to what would otherwise be dreadfully repetitive.
well i meant that if the flood isnt in the game that there most likely will be new enemies to toss things up from the run of the mill shooting elites.
Maybe Bungie came up with some new close-quarters centric enemies. The Flood are all about rushing in your face and beating the crap out of you until you're dead. The Skirmishers are supposed to be "Fierce, close quarters enemies", so maybe this is Bungie's attempt at filling in the hole that the Flood are leaving, there could possibly even be another species that's being created to complement the Skirmishers.
I rather like the way you think, I can definitely see where you're coming from with the skirmishers logic. I do wonder if Bungie do actually have anything further in store as far as enemies go, they seemed to release new additions in logical clutches, announcing the new weapons together etc. It would seem a little odd to tag another new enemy on as a further info release, though there's still plenty of time until Reach comes out so who knows? I'm really gonna miss the flood, it hadn't really struck me until I saw this thread but I do agree that ther inclusion in Reach sounds unlikely. I still have fond memories of the flood in Halo CE, the library mission was just classic.
hoping that the flood aren't in reach; for one, like other people say, it wouldn't make sesne. Another thing is the flod killing tactices never really changed much. maybe they will be replaced with the dinosaur things from that one halo vid?
If Bungie plans on making this THEIR last Halo game, I wouldn't be surprised if they included a lot of new Forerunner dealies.
I don't think they ever said this was their last game, or even implied it. But maybe some people misinterpreted their words into saying that Reach is their last game. I think this game is more focused on large battles and defending Reach rather than finding Forerunner **** and keeping them out of the hands of the Covenant or destroying the flood or finding the ark or whatever. So I don't think there will be any of the flood in Reach. Maybe some easter eggs, but not any battles or large infections with them.
Beware: Minor Halo CE and Halo: First Strike spoilers. Spoiler The Flood were discovered and released on the first Halo ring, which took place roughly at the same time as the war on Reach, because after escaping the Halo ring and the Covenant, Master Chief and a small group of marines (including Sgt. Johnson) arrived on Reach to rescue Dr. Halsey and some of the surviving Spartans. Bungie, however, made no reference of these Spartans in the information provided about Reach, and no names of NOBLE squad members were mentioned in the novels. I doubt Flood will be in Reach, but won't rule it out. I'm hoping Skirmishers with be like shield-less Jackals, and Sniper Jackals with still be present to complement the Skirmishers close range combat style.
Loved the flood on H3. 'The Flood' was actually my favourite level... Looks doubtful, but still hoping.
Well when you think about it, there is no "hole" that needs to be filled because almost all missions have you fighting only the Covenant or only the flood, but rarely both at the same time. So it isn't exactly like there is an entire class of enemy missing. The only time that the two enemies appear at the same time is when they are fighting each other to show the player that they aren't allied.
It has been stated that this will be bungie's last halo game. Now Microsoft has set up 343 industries to take over the halo franchise and Bungie will keep making games but Bungie is tired of the series and wants to do something new.
Having flood not only contradicts cannon, but also takes away what their trying to do with the game, make you scared of your enemies. The flood have long since lost their zombie apocalypse feel, and are now to common/easy to kill. I have to agree with what Okage was saying.
