If know for a fact, most good "Forgers" don't post/upload every map they create or Forge on. Some maps get discarded, some maps you don't feel like playtesting (lack of enthusiasm for the map=not posted). I have playtested a certain map and gametype and it works great: Fun, and Fair for more than 4 players. 1. Does anything run through your head before you post a map? Do you ever think too hard about posting your map and getting rejected? and as the the title suggests; do you have a "checklist" you have to check before uploading your map to Forge Hub (Bungie.net too). P.S. The gametype my map uses is said to be just like someone else made up. They might have had a slight difference as I haven't played their's yet. But if it was the same, my map has to be designed better than theirs. It just works great! Thanks for reading, and I want your comments. Maybe one day this will be a good place to go for a checklist.
Um, I am not sure exactly how that is considered a "checklist". By the title of the thread, it makes someone think that they will come here and find a checklist of good things to do before posting a map. I also do not understand how a lack of enthusiasm for a map pertains to a checklist for posting maps. Just giving you my comment.
I changed the title of the thread and added the last line in bold. The question I want to ask myself is "To post, or not to post?"... some maps get discarded for not being playtested (lack of enthusiasm), THAT doesn't apply to the map I'm thinking about. Playtesting is required.
I have a problem getting players to playtest maps. Even when I post on the playtesting thread here on Forgehub, I don't seem to get much enthusiasm. I think it's absolutely critical to playtest all gametypes..., otherwise you end up with complaints. I think I'm going to start using a checklist. Going through the hassle of posting, then deleting and reposting after 200 downloads can be a real pain in the backside.
In no particular order... [_] No rough edges. Interlocking helps A LOT, but is not required. [_] Playability. Fair weapon placement, spawn placement, little to no exploits and camping spots. [_] Enjoyable. [_] Aesthetically pleasing [_] It kicks ass and takes names. [_] Its awesome. [_] Sex Appeal. Wait, maybe not that last one... --dc
