I am looking for a new Hard Drive.
I want to know if I should get a 500GB Hard Drive, or to get a 1TB hard drive. Right now, I only have 81.7GB free of 279GB for my Hard Drive, and am looking to get some new computer games. Probably Bioshock 2 and Mass Effect 2 (Although I have Bioshock 1 and Mass Effect 2 both on the Xbox 360. x]) and maybe even Command and Conquer 4 and whatever else I find. Depending on when Starcraft 2 comes out, that too. Can't wait for it BTW xD.

I have a $400.00 gift card for Best Buy, so I'm looking for something there. Here are my first-look choices. ALSO, it can be either Internal or External!! Internal is easier for space wise, but I am NOT very tech savvy nor do I know how to install it so External would be easier for using it without having to pay someone to do it or having to move my computer around. (Idiots that built my computer didn't tighten the screws all the way and one of them fell into my Power Supply -.-")

NOTE : Again, I am not very Tech Savvy so I just kind of chose the first ones I saw xD

    CHOICES :

    Internal 1TB -
    Seagate - 1TB Internal Hard Drive - ST310005N1A1AS-RK

    Internal 500GB -
    Western Digital - 500GB Internal Hard Drive - WD5000JBRTL

    External 1TB -
    Seagate - Expansion 1TB External USB 2.0 Desktop Hard Drive - Black - ST310005EXA101-RK

    External 500GB -
    Seagate - FreeAgent Desk 500GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive - Silver - ST305004FD

    Feedback is appreciated. :D

I'd get external. You'll be able to bring it around if you need anything, and it can run separately and potentially fix a broken computer. Plus, you've already stated on the less than tech savvy thing - though installing a hard drive is quite easy, I prefer external personally.

For gaming, you should be fine with 500 GB. The fact of the matter is, you want open space. However, unless you really see yourself using whatever you have plus 500 extra GB (leave about 50 GB of space at least, preferably closer to 100), I'd go with the 500GB one.

The seagate one looks decent - I've heard good things about this one though, especially if you plan on bringing it on-the-go: Newegg.com - LACIE Rugged 500GB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive 301370 - External Hard Drives

Thanks for the advice Insane, I'll definitely look into the one you suggested. I'll probably not be bringing it on-the-go but I do have my Alienware Laptop that I don't use much because I'm too damned lazy to re-install all my games, so this might come in extra use.

Also, the one you suggested looks strangely familiar.. I'm going to post this on a couple of other sites to see what others have to say.

Get the 1TB internal. It's a better value.

Unless you have an E-Sata port on all or at least two of your computers then there is no reason to get an external hdd. USB will only slow it down.

Plus external hard-drives are just that...external, not portable. Get a flash drive or a cloud service if you are looking for portable space.

if you want to save money and have extra money left over for games i would buy the external 500GB. its cheaper than the 1TB and still holds alot of data :)

I'm really not looking for "money left over" the gift card is at 400 Dollars and I have about 250 - 260 in my wallet, so money isn't necessarily my problem. Not to mention it's only about 20 bucks cheaper, so it's not that big of a difference in my book.

@Nitrous, Hell, I don't even have one E-Sata port (I Googled.) on my main computer. Probably not useful if I get an external port than huh? Alright, well now I'm kind of leaning toward the Internal HD.

NOTICE : This took me an hour to post because I was watching videos. Thank you.
