The xbox is dead on live? cause i never play it on live but i do play the old xbox quite alot because of all the clasic games, One of them been the star wars battle front 1 and 2 i loved those games. It's sad to hear that no more Xbox live for the old one cause i really enjoyed the online games on SWBF2 even tho sometimes it was laggy it was fun as hell.
Not to be disrespectful but halo 2 is original xbox live, and if original xbox live goes, that goes... So, it is about halo 2. And also, This is in halo discussion. So I believe this is what it was intended for. EDIT: I guess someone already stated this, sorry.
Well it's mainly about Xbox Original, but I also want peoploe to think about not being able to play old games; Halo 2 mostly. I think its sad that people who can't afford to buy Xbox 360's are out of luck, you know? Its just depressing because we don't think of that. Kids who think that originals are better are for the most part right, but if you think about it, the 360 has offered so many more graphics and lights and whistles than the first one. The only problem is that it was slapped together so hastely to compete with the Playstation, that problems like RRoD, Open Tray, Play DVD, and more, make us hate the system. I may be getting off topic here a bit, but I'll get back in a sec. I close this paragraph with this: The reason I'm loyal to Xbox 360 is the fact that I have this great community to talk to, Halo franchise, and playability. Now think about this being the exact same way with the original xbox. A community being taken away? It's depressing. However it lays out the line for a new great community. The process will repeat. Halo 2 was the first game I played on xbox too I remember my brothers having people over to play Halo 2, and I loved watching hilarious things like people getting invisability, and rockets, and double needle kills. I miss those days. alot. * Deep breath with single tear * I want Bungie to bring back that fun. Maybe Reach will do it, but we never know. As for now, I say goodbye to the multiplayer phenomenon and say hello to Halo: Reach. ...Once I get my xbox working again...
Well Xbox 1 Live is being shut down, but Halo 2 won't be dead. There's still XBC and X-Link. I remember playing loads of games using XLink before Halo 3 came out and when I couldn't afford another Gold membership. Then Halo 3 was out and amount of people playing G-LAN (Global-Local Area Network) seemed to drop a lot. So maybe we'll see a rise in GLAN Halo 2 now that XBL is shutting down which means lots of customs!
So true. I love all the modded matches on XBC. But anyways... This whole Halo 2 thing dying reminds me a lot of when Michael Jackson died. All of a sudden they die and then they become really popular again.
I guess there is a good reason for this, but it will be sad to see Halo 2 online go. It doesn't affect me as much, because I haven't built a strong connection to the game, but I'm sure that other veteran Xbox and Halo 2 players feel otherwise. Now that original Xbox Live is going to be gone though, there will be a lot of room for improvement on the 360.
thats a dumb statement, ODST yeah not great, but was sort of a halo 3 add on in a way more than anything, look at the whole multiplay disk and road to recon, the names even "Halo 3:ODST" and Halo Wars, is a great command and conquer type game, and if you dont like the genre, then you wont like it. that aside... Personally, (look at a view of someone who has never played halo 2) I dont feel I have/will miss out, any of those maps can/have been remade into halo 3, which ALSO has the gametypes, with less honor rules, and with the addition of the uber forging, maps can be tweaked so that jump that sort of sucked now you land better/if you always though it should have this weapon, oh wait, now you can try that out. I was a PS2 man, then for one xmas i got xbox 360 and a halo 3... that alone brought me over, i get the same nostalgia you guys get with halo 2, its just when you get into it. I'm ok with it going down, progress shouldn't be halted and hindered by the past, thats like when someone invented the TV, everyone saying "nah, keep it, its just like the radio PLUS vision, and with the futures of 3D uber-ness. But i remember listening to the radio"
As long as Microsoft is improving the way the 360 works, that is all that matters to me. I tend to move forward with all of my games. Although I do enjoy going back and playing old games with single player, but I find myself hard-pressed to play an old games multiplayer. It just donsn't work for me.
Noooo! Say it isn't so! All the memories I had, playing xbox live on my original xbox... *sob* Halo 2 wasn't the greatest game on the Original Xbox, IMO the game I have to say I had the most fun playing was Farcry: Instincts Evolution. There was some really creative map making minds in that game, and the community was great. I could play with a group of people I played with the day before the next day and it was always fun. Playing the prison maps, paratroopers, the list goes on... Greatest fun on that big, black box... I think im going to dust off my xbox and play it one final time before it dies, for good this time... Does anyone have Farcry:IE?
I am just kinda mad, I want to play some more Halo 2 before it dies, but I cant download any of the DLC for it on my 360, it cant find the list. So I cant play ANY Halo 2 except campaign, this kinda sucks.
I knew it would eventually happen. It's not just Halo 2, I still played NFS:Underground 2 sometimes with friends.
Well, on the matter of common sense, I like to see this move. It's renovation. If you still have an original Xbox, that's your fault, not Microsoft's. The original Xbox has been dying with each new game that comes out, ie MW2, Halo 3, Bioshock, etc. and it's about time we start thinking about the future of gaming, not the past. What we will see, not what we have seen.
You can't find the list? Are you looking in the 360 Marketplace? Just sign in to XBL in Halo 2, go to matchmaking and you download the maps there.
