Sour Diesel Sour Diesel Author: Dirt Jockey Map Download: Sour Diesel Custom Gametype: Get High Recommended Gametype: FFA Slayer Players: 2-8 This map was formerly known as "Rat Trap". After producing about 4 versions I stumbled upon a Sandbox map with the same name. I was pretty pissed but I thought "Rat Trap" was a pretty generic name to begin with, and there were many changes I wanted to make to the map, so I decided to release my final version of Rat Trap under the new name Sour Diesel. Changes include Man Cannon tweaks, Weapon balancing, A new platform for the Active Camo and many other touches. The most notable change is the exclusive gametype I made exclusively for this map. Basically this map utilizes the 2 main ares of 'Rats Nest'. I Interlocked everything to make the map Inescapable and to produce clean edges and smooth gameplay. Gameplay: Spoiler Almost all the power weapons can be found close to the base of this map as there are many lookout points above, this is set up to prevent camping the top. To further help camping I placed Fusion Coils strategically up top which serve 2 purposes: (1) To be shot from below which would Incinerate anyone turtling on the teleporter up top and (2) To be pushed off the edge effectively 'Carpet Bombing' anyone below. Its really a Double Edged Sword going up top, giving you excellent Point of View but making you a Hot Target with no cover and explosive surroundings. Both the Active Camo and Overshield are found in the middle elevated above ground level promoting a constant scramble from bottom to top and top to bottom. With multiple Grav Lifts and precision aimed Man Cannons there are many ways to get to the top however that is not always the best place to be. The Custom Gametype "Get High" was made specifically for this map. It is a version of Oddball with many twists. Effectively the Ball is just a melee weapon that makes you able to jump twice as high. It earns you no extra points- Just helps you get to the top quicker and provides excellent duels amongst the Sword and Shotgun making this anyones game. Weapons: Spoiler 1 x Shotgun 2 x Sniper Rifle 6 x Battle Rifle 2 x SMG 1 x Spartan Laser 1 x Sword 1 x Machine Gun Turret Vehicles: Spoiler 1 x Chopper Equipment: Spoiler 3 x Grav Lift 3 x Deployable Cover 1 x Active Camo 1 x Overshield 1 x Bubble Shield 1 x Regenerator 2 x Power Drain 2 x Frag Grenade 2 x Plasma Grenade 2 x Stick Grenade Outside View Side View Outside Top View Inside Bottom View Inside Bottom Reverse View Inside Middle View Inside Middle Reverse View Inside Top View Action Shots: Spoiler Pushing Fusion Coils down Fusion Coil direct impact Tossing a Grenade up top Grenade direct hit Heads up Teleporter Block Fail Tossing Coils inside
Hi, please embed at least one picture. Use photobucket or a photo hosting site. First Post I like the idea of shrinking maps and I may give this a dl to see what it is like.
I cant figure out how to embed my pictures I am new to this site- I have uploaded some pics to image shack, but when i post them here all I get is a link. I was this site was easier to use.
[ IMG] Your links go here... [/IMG] There is a space that I put between the [ & the I just to show you how it looks. You did the hard part. Just put the IMG brackets now..
With the upgrade to vBulletin 3.8 comes a new and easier way to embed videos within your posts here at Forge Hub. Simply surround the link to your video with [ URL ] [ /URL ] tags as you would to make any other url in to a link, like this: Or, as long as the "Automatically parse links in text" and "Automatically embed media" boxes are checked, which they are by default, then you should be able to just post a direct link to the video and it will automatically generate the code to embed the video when you click post. It couldn't be easier. Video links will automatically turn in to embedded videos rather than just a regular link as normal with and tags, as long as the video site is supported. If not they will simply act as a standard link to the url. To my knowledge, only Youtube and Vimeo are supported at this early stage, but more widespread support has been promised soon. This is really getting off topic but since it helped you with your pics then I am sure the mods won't mind. I hope this is all you need now to post your pics and videos. As for the map, it looks fun. I have not played a good Rats nest map in a while. I might give it a DL. It's also nice when you have your own custom game variant. Have you created one?
You've got a great idea going, but I can see some stuff you should change. One would be the Firebomb Grenades. Since they are one hit kill, they should be power weapons. But, in just two pics, i can see six Firebomb Grenades. That could kill gameplay alot, especially with all the other power weapons already on the map. You have a great map going, but the weapon set is overpowering, I recommend changing or removing some power weapons. 150th post! : )
