What is your definition of who is "evil"? Is it those who do morally wrong things? Is it the people who are wrong?

    Discuss.

Society gives the definition. In western societies we can commonly agree the murder is a bad act and some cases "evil". The thing is I can go into Affrica if I want and rape ,kill ,and dismember babies and no one will care. Society tries to set rules that will benifit the population and what hurts society we call evil. There is no good and no evil just opinions.

I'm going to attempt to tell you want my definition of evil is, but it's going to seem a bit odd.

Ok I'm a hypocrite, but only on a mental level. That being said I believe is nothing is true and everything is permitted. However if I see someone doing something like hurting someone I find them evil.

Depends; should you participate in the logic that there is no metaphysical aspect to life, then it's irrelevant because the entire world is predetermined anyway. However, if you believe in a soul, there had to have been another metaphysical life for descending purposes, so it'd be objective.

Ok, well my my view is that all people with the exception of the mentally ill do what they think is right, therefore morally there is no evil except the opposite viewpoint of yours. I.E. to terrorists we are evil, but to us they are. So in my theory, the only people that ca be evil are the ones who actually think they are doing the wrong thing but do it anyways (mentally ill people)

BTW: This topic should not be taken from a religious standpoint but rather from a moral one.

    Assassins Creed much.

I think that humans are naturally evil, and we are only constrained by society's laws, rules and expectations. There are a few reasonable, good humans in the world, and they are the ones that make it bearable. Evil is a deliberate act aimed at causing somebody harm, or an act which is carried out without caring for the impacts it could have on others.

I see what you're getting at, but after thinking about this for a while, I've got something to contribute about terrorists:

They fight the 'earthly' war (the stuff you normally picture when you think of war) but in truth, they fight a far grander psychological war, a war in which the person who dies against his will loses, and the one who dies willingly wins. Which explains suicide bombings and the such.

Of course, I may be wrong, but that's my thought.

    Ok, definition of evil:
    Dictionary: morally wrong or bad

Mine: Well, I think that we can't define evil. Do we mean an evil person? An evil thought? A feeling of evil?

Evil: Something overall or generally bad in nature.

Tornadoes are evil, hurricanes are evil, killer pink pandas are evil.

No but seriously evil is just a word "opinion of one person to another or further more one culture to another" During WWII the Japanese deemed American evil in nature the way we lived offended them. On the Contrary of WWII, the things Hitler did to people was viewed as evil, and it carried over to the German people who really didn't deem to be classified that way.

I think we all agree that unless a populous shares the same theology and moral logic, evil cannot be unanimously defined. So there isn't a point in trying. ..

Ahem. Thats from the shane schofield series of books.

It appears to me that people generate ideas from a whole conglomeration of their life, including books (schofield) and games (AC2).

Any definition of evil will be drawn from each persons experience of evil. A person who sees lots of bad might not consider a punch in the face evil, but a saintly person would consider that to be evil.
