So I enrolled in a photography class this semester at my high school, and we're using Canon Rebel XSi 450D cameras. Here is a little gallery of some photographs I took since we started using them. Instead of posting new threads, I'll just update this thread with my latest photographs, and separate the gallery with spoilers. Constructive criticism is always welcomed. I really like them. Isn't the time like 2:55? The focus points are centered and look really good. The colours are really vibrant as well, are they shooped at all?
Wow, some of those look realler (if thats a word) than real... more vibrant and just really nice looking pictures, great job.
You'd think I would be able to read my own watch, but you are right (in a sense, the time is actually 3:59). As for the vibrancy, only a couple of them are shopped. My class uses Aperture, and for a couple (like Pretty Flowers and Going Green) I upped the vibrancy. Most of them got an exposure touch-up, since I am new to this, I haven't gotten exposure quite down yet. Well, some are edited, so I guess you could say that I cheated, but thanks for the compliment.
So I decided that instead of posting new threads (which may become quite frequent), I'll just leave a post in this thread and update the original post. That way I don't clutter things up. Today in my photography class, my teacher had us take pictures of 3 different objects (1 white, 1 red, and 1 black) 4 times with one of the 4 different meters selected each time to see how it affects exposure. We kept in it TV mode with the shutter set to 1/30s, so that way we could see how it affected the exposure by looking at the changing aperature. Naturally, I considered photographing black, white, and red paper boring, so I chose a red pencil, white mac mouse, and black headphones. However, this is the only one I felt worth sharing. Thanks Frag, and I agree. There have been many photos I've imported, only to see that they were more out of focus than I thought (Cacti and Just a Plant are good examples), but it's mostly attributed to the fact that I haven't ever dealt with manual aperture and it's affects on DoF, something I hope to get better at. We did another exposure assignment today, this time outdoors in shade/sunlight. It was challenging because it was really hard to find interesting objects in red, black, and white that would affect the metering. So I only managed to get about 16 of the 24 images I needed (4 shots for each object), and several other photos that I just felt like taking. So I mostly likely won't get a good grade. However, I did manage to scavenge a few images that I liked. Of them, though, I think Rust and Plastic Spine are my favorites. Canon EOS 450d 18-55mm lens Photographs modified in GIMP.
