    Description:

    OPERATION: COLD
    Brrr...

    Operation: C.O.L.D.

Pfft... They were always named something stupid like that. Why couldn't they just name it what it was? A rescue mission, that was all. And not a particularly hard one. Once again, that idiot Virgil had gotten his ass into some backwater world or something, and now, being the smart engineer that he is, has found himself stranded and again in need of picking up.

Why was he useful? Did he even do anything, contribute to the cause? It seemed that all he did was get lost these days. And each time they had to pick him up they were interrupted by Covenant, and not they weren't in the mood to knock on your door and ask if you wanted to come and have some coffee or something.

The speech Captain Cora had given his squad rang out nice and clear, some testimony to his total military attitude. The southern twang was enough to tweak your annoyance, but the halting way he pronounced his syllables made you want to scream. He must have been working on it since he was wetting the bed.

    "Damn, look at you sonsofbitches."

    That's how he always started.

"****, looks like old Virgil got himself stuck in some snow, now didn't he?"

    "Sir, yes, sir!"

"Damn right, 'Yes, sir!'. And what does that mean to you O.D.S.T.'s?" He said each letter with such force that it seemed like he was trying to talk through fibramic aluminum.

Only one of the boys deemed the question fit for an answer.

"We will be jumping feet-first into Hell, Captain, sir!"

"**** right you will, soldier! And guess what?"

    "What, sir?" The squad screamed.

"Hell will be so ****ing cold you won't feel your eyes blink! Now get the hell off of my ship!"

    And so they had jumped.

Operation: COLD is my first map for a while, so give me a small break if there are still some problems with it. I've been testing it vigourously, but I doubt it's perfect just yet.

It's a Holdout-based Asset map, set in Avalanche, where ODSTs have to wait three minutes to escort Virgil on Mongooses and then a Hornet.

    Let's get to it.

    ODST's

You will have to wait it out in a small fortress built in the middle of Avalanche, with a nice set of guns, but also a relentless horde of Brutes coming your way. You will have to wait a full three minutes (I couldn't get it to work very well with rifte gifle's five minute system) until a trio of Mongooses spawn at the back of your base (allowing for a higher chance of getting out alive), along with a small area at the cliff on the same side you're holding out on, where the Hornet will spawn, also after three minutes.

    Here is your Holdout area:

    And another view:

Please keep in mind that I do not care at all for color-coding and will not color code this map.

After the three minutes are up, your Mongooses will spawn back where you originall spawn in the base, allowing you to drive to the Hornet's small pad on the cliff:

All of that spawns at three minutes.

    Here is your playing field:

Brute jumpers spawn one the small platforms floating above this field. The other two classes, the Brute Stalker and Brute Chieftain, both spawn in their own tunnels, and then are teleported to the field so as to not lose their powerups.

And here is where your enemies shall spawn (after the preliminary death-spawn, first):

    Understood?

That fortress looks pretty damn good. Well done. The helipad is a bit sloppy, but whatever. I can't wait to try this one out.

PS: this should be posted in the Casual section.

Wow that holdout area looks amazing and I like that idea of having a part spawn at three minutes. I think this map needs more aresas for the humans to go and could you add pictures of were the covenant spawn plzzz

Well, the humans are supposed to stay in the Holdout area until the Mongooses and the Hornet spawn, and then rush over there, and then fly up to the VIP point hanging in the air just above the helipad.

EDIT: I will see about fixing the helipad, it's like that because I wanted a bit of cover for the ODSTs.
