    Submission

This is the place to submit your maps. Submission posts must contain:
    • A direct link to the Map File in your Fileshare
    • A short description of the map (basically what it is and where it is)
    • At least one picture, obviously more is better since this is an aesthetic contest, but you only need one, all maps will be downloaded and looked through during the judging process.

You must submit your map by January 13th 2010.

The rules and other information for this competition can be found here. Best of luck to all entrants!

    Colossus of Rhodes

    Map in my file share

This is my submission to the Wonders Of The World Contest it is an aesthetic map made in the center of Sandbox. It is for only AESTHETICS not game play at all! The map is a giant statue of the Greek god, Helios. He holds a torch in his right hand and a bow in his left. Everyone who as actually seen the statue is dead now thus we do not know exactly what it looked like, however some artists have made their own versions of it as to what they believed it to look like. Most have it with its feet spread across two buildings on the the side of the harbor entrance but that would be impossible since the statue took 12 years to construct and that would close the harbor for that long. Some historians say it was on a hill overlooking the city. Honestly who really cares though.

    Chichen Itza
Is a large pre-Columbianarchaeological site built by the Maya civilization located in the northern center of the Yucatán Peninsula, in the Yucatán state, present-day Mexico. Chichen Itza was a major regional focal point in the northern Maya lowlands from the Late Classic through the Terminal Classic and into the early portion of the Early Postclassic period. The site exhibits a multitude of architectural styles, from what is called “Mexicanized” and reminiscent of styles seen in central Mexico to the Puuc style found among the Puuc Maya of the northern lowlands.

    The Redeemer

I have recreated the "Christ the Redeemer" statue that overlooks Rio de Janeiro Brazil. It is part of the New7Wonders of the world list of wonders. The map also includes a small villa beneath it so that it seems like it isn't simply overlooking a bunch of sand and rocks. This map is Aesthetic, but can be used to goof around on.

This is my second map on Forgehub and I am quite proud of how it turned out.

I Present you the Great Lighthouse of Alexandria! (a halo 3 recreation)
The Great Lighthouse of Alexandria also goes by the name Pharos. Alexander had founded the city which hosted this great monument but never saw it's completion or construction. It was constructed in Alexandria, Egypt. Instead it was Ptolemy Soter that gave the order to build The lighthouse (or pharos) but he never saw its completion. His son Ptolemy Soter II was the ruler at the time of completion (it took 20 years) The man who designed it was named Sostrates of Knidos and he wanted his name carved into the foundation, Ptolemy II disaproved and instead made Soter write his name in the foundation, enraged Soter dug a hole carved his name in it, covered it with plaster and then wrote Ptolemy's name. The plaster wore down over time revealing Soter's name. The Lighthouse was destroyed by tremors later on.

The site exhibits a multitude of architectural styles, from what is called “Mexicanized” and reminiscent of styles seen in central Mexico to the Puuc style found among the Puuc Maya of the northern lowlands. The presence of central Mexican styles was once thought to have been representative of direct migration or even conquest from central Mexico, but most contemporary interpretations view the presence of these non-Maya styles more as the result of cultural diffusion.

    The Lighthouse of Alexandria (Pharos)

    PHAROS

I put my own twist to an ancient wonder that has many different interpretations of its design today because its construction occurred thousands of years ago. It is not necessarily completed to my fullest expectations but here it is anyway!

    --BACKGROUND--

The Lighthouse of Alexandria, otherwise known as Pharos, was begun by Ptolemy in the Third Century BC and completed by his son, Ptolemy Philadelphos, on the island of Pharos in Alexandria, Egypt. It was to serve as the island's landmark, and later, its lighthouse. Pharos was a small island just off the coast of Egypt, near the city of Alexandria. The island was linked to the mainland by a man-made bridge. Together, the island of Pharos and the bridge formed half of Alexandria’s harbour. The lighthouse was badly damaged by an earthquake in 956, then again in 1303 and 1323.
