Do people really try and sell their forged maps? Recently I heard someone talking about one being free and then my friend mentioned he bought a clan map. Has anyone tried that on this site? And how does that even work?
I don't think that can work what so ever... People could just save from played maps and anyway, who would buy a map from someone else? Just seems like a waste of time but who knows with people these days?
that's exactly what i thought, but I did figure that the only way it would work is if you didn't play it with anyone and released it to your fileshare for a minute after someone say gave you a microsoft points code. even that sounds stupid though.
Seems pretty stupid because you could just sell the map and then post it right after claiming that you made it. Now you have money and the rights behind the map...
Yea because then the person who got it would have to play it and the lowest MP card I've seen is 1500 and thats just about two halo 3 map packs. Anyway even if you could give 100 MP it would still be a rip off.
Possibly. Then it must have been one seriously jaw dropping map that was worth whatever he paid for. See now, why would you buy one specific map, when you can get thousands other ones(some that will most likely be better) for free on a site that is used to host free Halo Forge maps? We accept cash, credit cards, and Nutella. In all honesty though, who is dumb enough to pay for something that is meant to be free?
oh i know it's stupid. i just wanted to know if people actually did it. and i'd take payment in nutella
This guy was going to give me 1600mspoints for showing him 5 good maps that i didnt even have to make. Halfway through he supposedly got hostbooted. I lost 10 minutes of my life and got to play Pallet Parade, MLG Requim and Outpost; i was able to recover.
You know that Terms of Service that you agree to when saving a map? Well, in it, you are signing a contract that states that any content created in Halo 3 doesn't belong to you, rights are given to Microsoft/Bungie (I'm not sure which, can't remember off the top of my head...). That means, if anyone's making money from selling maps, then they're breaking their Terms of Service and can get banned, or worse.
People usually do not sell a previously created map, since usually the first thing someone does after making a map is advertise it. On the other hand people do ocassionally pay for either a special clan map or help with a forge map. It usually takes a form more like contract work (if you think of the G&A shops here). Although I have never taken money or nutella I have recieved payment in cookies
