So I'm creating a map in Sandbox, the whole concept behind it your on an expedition in this temple and your VIP is this researcher who is trying to get these certain parts in the ruin. So what I wanted is what do you do in Forge and put in your maps to make a great VIP game? I wanted a game that would make you act fast and that if you stopped moving and that it was easy to be overwhelmed by the other team. Trying to incorporate styles of Infection game play into VIP.
Sounds a ton like asset. Does the death of the VIP end the round? If so, you might as well set up the map that your making for asset.
Well, yes the VIP's death would end the round. I wanted the VIP to go inside the temple, get to the area they needed to get to then return. Like VIP mixed with Assault, I wanted an object they needed to collect and then get outside the temple once more.
Hmm, interesting Idea, inform me if you need testing, or shoot me a VM when the preview, if you have one, is up.
It reminded me of Halo Wars, were Sgt. Forge has to escort Anders through the Relic and through the various Shield World landscapes. Maybe you could make the map have a bunch of traps, with multiple ways to get to each location. Great now I'm thinking of a bunch of ideas. Here we go: You could have the temple linked together by a series of hallways. There wouldn't be any sort of 'one' passage', so there would be many ways to get to each destination. Then have the destination points randomly be selected, so each game will be something different. Along each passage, you could have traps along the walls, just to add that little surprise every once in a while. Then have the last destination lead back at the beginning. I'm not sure if this is possible if you have randomly selected destination points though. Hope my ideas helped you
The destination can either be random or sequence. If it's set to random, then your idea of the last goal being in a certain place will not work. It's pretty basic logic. I like the whole idea. This is basically Asset though. Asset has the goal movement set to 2 mins. Can you explain more how your game will differ? I am trying to be suggestive.
I am still very much a beginner to game types and such in Forge. I only know some basics about interlocking, instant respawn etc. The whole objective was to take this researcher who would be your VIP and take him or her inside these ruins. Inside the ruins however are tons of I would call Temple Guardians who have awakened. Respawning would spawn you outside the temple once more and having to trek through the entire thing to get to the VIP or you would only have one life. You would need to get your researcher to a spot in the ruins where they would figuritively write stuff down about the ruins. Which would activate the escape route which is either a beacon by the expedition (teleporter) or an ancient escape route(gravity sky ladder). So basically you would need to get to the deepest part of the ruins, then escape towards the outside meaning with the sky ladder returning through the entire temple or with the beacon simply going through the teleporter.
