I have started creating a battle track map and showed it to Scobra. He suggested that I should change some of the turns to banked turns. Now, I'm new to race maps, but not new to forge so what I have already forged is actually quite decent.
For the banked turns, I had an idea of instead of re-doing all the turns I simply add on to them to make them banked. What I mean is, imagine double blocks placed around in a turn formation, then visualize Block, Huges being ghost merged half way into them so that they are on the outside edges. Now you have a turn thats flat on the inside but angled on the outside. Would this work and make people happy?

Would it work? Yes. Would it make people happy? Maybe.

Most good battletracks barely have any flat turns, mostly because they are harder to get around when going at high speeds. The bank is there to actually help you get your mongoose around the turn. It's ultimately your decision but I would say redo a lot of the track and make the whole turn banked. Not to mention that that would also save a lot of pieces and allow your track to be longer.

I would say that you will be happier if you go back and make changes to the track. However, what you explained would be interesting for racing since there would be the dilemma between taking the bank or taking the inside. I think it would work, and would result in intriguing gameplay, but I, personally, would redo it.

Making banked turns is usually circumnavigated by making the track curve upwards so the curve is actually in a flat plane with the ouside curved edge angled up. To actually bank the curve usually creates small bumps since the track must be tilted over to the side to begin the bank. To do this two pieces (double walls for this example) are joined along the diagonal line of the upper face. They are slightly angled to eachother along this line, to begin the track curving and banking in tha direction. Repeat

Ask chung-wii or shaddoblade for help, they both made a video on helping people out with banked turns.

There are two basic principles to making a turn. Pitch & Shift, I call them. Pitch is the rise or fall of a piece and shift is just whether or not the piece is turning to the right or the left. That coupled with a heck of a lot of pieces, any type of turn turn or bank can be constructed.

IMO SLiK is the best at bank turns in the world. A lot of people are close now, but he was doing this pro way before anyone. Shaddo is the second best IMO. Take a look at their maps and you may get some inspiration. Learn to experiment with what pieces you are using as markers. Also try ghost merging. I was able to ghost merge a lot of pieces on my last track. It saved me time. I use two controllers a lot though. I can see pieces from two sides if I am doing a really tough piece.
