Deviant Art: http://webpope.deviantart.com/art/EcoServer-147654277 ""Everyone else is going green isn't it time you did too?" The would-be motto for this fictitious hosting firm. The design is meant to reflect the colors of nature and there are several cartoonish representations of nature such as mountains, camels and clouds. The viewer is taken from a grassland to the beauty of the sky and brought back down to an arid desert and a cool mountain range where secrets abound within..."
It's pretty nice, but the picture seems to clash with the colors of the page. That's just my opinion though.
One of the great things about web design is that is doesn't all have to be one artistic flow. That clashing is acceptable and that the clash of colors can draw an eye to a specific sale and increase the probability of a purchase. But I disagree that they clash. The colors are all greens and grays and the red is a complement so I don't see the problem.
I know what you mean about the artistic flow thing. It stands out, just not in the way you see on other sites. Usually you see a darker background with the places trying to get your attention being brighter and popping more. I'm not saying it's bad, it just isn't what I'm used to seeing.
By the way, here is a coded preview of what it would look like live. EcoServer I don't think I like it as much anymore. Color scheme seems to have failed me but I don't know there is still something about it I like...a lot too.
All the colours are great imo except for that light grey that is used in the little triangles near the top and for the search button. It seems a bit in the middle for me, and i'd just like to know what you thought it looked like when it was either the same colour cream as the boxes it touches, or a darker grey. Another thing i think doesn't match is the noise effect you have on the buttons near the bottom.
The noise is sand but I'll tone that down because I agree. The gray triangles are the underside of the white boxes. They're supposed to look like tapestries.
