Sandbox Grandiose

    Grandiose is my latest project, mixing aesthetics and gameplay to, hopefully, create a very enjoyable map. It's set up to play Slayer and Territories (flag rally's probably the best), it could possibly play other game types but I felt they would be boring so I left them out. This map suits a party of about 6-10 players.

    I kept a theme throughout the map, although incidentally it may remind you of a museum. I tried to make structures look extravagant with battered stone accentuated by striking gold. In terms of gameplay the map is balanced. Every weapon and strategy can be countered by another. Anyway hope you enjoy the map, now onto the pics:

    Shotgun Spawn

    List of Weapons/Equipment:
    1 x Sniper - 2 clips, 60 sec respawn
    2 x Shotgun - 1 clip, 45 sec respawn
    2 x Battle Rifle - 2 clips, 45 sec respawn
    4 x Spiker - 2 clips, 30 sec respawn
    4 x Mauler -1 clip, 30 sec respawn
    1 x Active Camo - 60 sec respawn
    2 x Power Drain - 60 sec respawn
    2 x Flare - 60 sec respawn
    4 x Plasma Grenade - 10 sec respawn
    4 x Frag Grenade - 10 sec respawn

    Warning: Set the gametype up so that people can't drive vehicles. Unless, of course, you want people to break apart the mongoose statues and start driving them; in which case have fun :D

    Aesthetically, this map looks AMAZING. I haven't seen aesthetics like this in a long time. I like the simple design of the map. The only minor flaw I can see is it doesn't appear ass if there are too many lines of sight. There is the raised part on one side, but it seems that the majority of the map will be on the ground. Either way, great map. I'll dl it and take a look.

    looks good but the guns hanging on alot of the walls ................. could deal without... the game itself looks simple and easy to follow but it's something i wouldn't be playing nice job overall............

    Plays very well on the slayer gametype have not used it for territories as of yet but probably plays better. Aesthetically the map is also very good for it and you're next maps will probably get better and better.

    Not only are guns hanging on the wall aesthetically pleasing, but also pretty cool. Some parts of it need more aesthetic detail such as the mongoose statues. I don't really see the point of the mongooses, you can't get any real speed and it would be better to go on foot. I couldn't even tell it was a statue until I read. My favorite part would have to be the middle.

    The mongooses aren't for driving but i agree that part of the map could improve aesthetically, i was going to do something about it but I'd reached the OLN.

    Thanks for the positive feedback :) and when you play the map you should find there are plenty lines of sight since the raised part that you mentioned and the two corner platforms (overview 2), collectively, can see everywhere but the middle 'courtyard'.

    Cooool! This map looks really nice. Both the aesthetics and layout of the map looks great, and it looks to be really good for gameplay as well. I'll give it a download.

    the underlined is an epic fail...
    other than that the map looks reeaaally open...i dont know how it plays though, so if it works, thats great :D

    Wow the aesthetic are so great ! Maybe but it to be a TS map with a red side and a blue side .

    Maybe delete the lift because you could go to easy to go to the other base and to the back of the map !

    Jesus christ! You went on a posting spree. Anyway, Team slayer on this map probably wouldn't work as there would be balancing issues. The man cannons help to make sure those higher areas aren't 'power positions' where someone can easily camp. They also break the monotony of normal movement and add more of a fun factor.

    Overall this looks great aesthetically and for gameplay. The weapons on the walls really give this a finished feel. My only complaint is the man-cannons; it seems you could do without these or at least merge them into the blocks there.
