So I finally gave in to the Asset bug and decided to start crafting a map for it of my own. I've got an interesting thing going, but my only delimma is that I set it off the cliffs of Avalanche. As far as balancing everything seems to be going well and quite frankly it's starting to look like something I haven't seen on an Asset map before (aside from the setting) I guess my quesrion here is will this work considering there will be no drop pod system and there will not be the conventional aerial assault as made possible in sandbox?
It will definitely work without the drop-pod system: that's really just a little spice added to the map. You could just have the defenders spawn near the main holdout structure. And by 'aerial assault', do you mean the ODSTs dropping from the ship?
Correct. drop pods just make the map more interesting. I'm not too sure the kinds of objects you have to work with on avalanche to actually make drop pods. If you really want to though, just have people spawn in midair.
there really aren't objects that can make a drop pod sucessfully. and by aerial assault I meant the jump pack brutes that often come from higher up. and drop spawns are currently what I'm using. I suppose I was a little cryptic with my explanation of the map: the main play field is a structure off the cliff of Avalanche the top part of the structure is level with the cliff but the ODSTs aren't able to get up to get up the cliff. So far there are 3 covered access points and one open access point to the main structure. The brutes attack from the cliffs which gives them a slight upper hand. I'm still debating on putting a turret on the cliff. I haven't quite decided how the ODSTs get their hornet, but I do know that I don't want it to end there. It's a smaller asset map using no more than 6-8 people and I'll be testing it soon for anyone interested.
Sounds good. I've always wanted to make some type of base using the cliffs on Avalanche but never got around to it. I also like the fact that it's for 6-8 people. I can never get a big enough party to play a full-out Asset game.
Well, now that It's confirmed that this might work I'll have a preview and test dates out next week. Anyone got any ideas for the name?
