RK Stonehenge has been a work-in-progress for a long time now. It may seem like a simple, 5-hour forge, but I've been paying attention to how infection works lately. And I've been learning a lot about it. To start, this is a Sandbox Dunes Infection map. Which means, it takes place mainly in the desert. Tons of buildings, structures, and weapons will be your means of survival. The zombie traits are a little complicated, but here's the jist of it. Zombies have 300% speed and 75% gravity to maneuver around the dunes. They also have pretty good damage resistance, but this should be countered by the powerful weapons found in the dunes. There is only one alpha zombie, and this zombie is slightly more damage resistant and carries both a grav-hammer and a sword. The zombie spawn is in the skybox, and they must wait for 3 minutes before being released. After released, they can go to multiple teleporters which will then send them down to the desert. One of these teleporters is found over the stonehenge-structure, and the others are placed in open areas of the desert. The Stonehenge structure is also the human spawn, and vehicles are found there to start with. This is the first Watchtower building. These buildings are medium-sized, open, and carry both weapons and vehicles. The vehicles that will be seen through the desert will be mongooses, or warthogs. In total, there will be 2 Watchtowers, 1 red, 1 blue. Other than the Watchtowers, there will be small bases that are very open, but can provide vehicles or weapons. Not both, though. This is the first enclosed base I've made. These will have a lot of small weapons, and are good places if you decide to camp instead of drive. There should be 3 of these buildings when I'm done. Also note that this particular building has 2 entrances, a large front entrance, and a back entrance that requires you to crouch through. This is a forerunner site. They're found at the back of the desert, and carry one sentinel beam. (Sentinel beams rape zombies in this game.) There will only be 2 of these, on opposite ends of the desert. This particular structure might be a good outpost for sniping, as it's built off the side of the giant dune, and has a great view. Well, that's the map. Go ahead and post your comments and suggestions, the gametype is still in construction too.
this looks pretty good. if you want, i can help with the Forging and the gametype, but not tonight. tomorrow possibly. EDIT: you could rename the map to Forgotten Desert, or Undead Desert, or simply Forgotten.
Can I ask what your reasoning is for making the infected wait 3 minutes at the start of each round? I can see this being an issue.
The humans need a chance to explore the desert and find weapons. Although I might decrease the time limit that they wait. It's under consideration.
^I would highly suggest doing that. 3 minutes may not sound long, but when your in a game doing nothing it seems like forever. Also, the humans shouldn't be given forever to explore. They are supposed to explore and get into good positions while fighting off the zombies. Looks good so far. I like the enclosed bases a lot.
Perhaps you could use starting spawns to have a single infected lurking in a random structure, so as the humans explore they have to check each carefully. You'd have to give the humans some incentive to visit each structure, however. Testing will hopefully show whether 3 minutes is a deal breaker or not. Personally, if I was playing for, say, the 20th time, I'd be very frustrated - not forgetting the fact that I wouldn't be able to voice chat either, unless in a party.
this sounds like it could work. perhaps disable zombie weapon pickup, and place a fairly rare weapon in the ones where zombies spawn? Or, you could also do something similar to rifte gifle's drop pods and have all the zombies pour out of an opening at the top of the map and have the humans in the outside of the map, with guardians off, and make zombies really slow for the first 90 seconds of their life, so the humans have some time to explore. perhaps give humans vehicles too. idk, just send me a Friend Request to my GT which is on your left if anything sounds interesting.
Great map in my opinion only isn't 3 minutes a little much? It should be at maximum 45 seconds. I absolutely love the little oval type building with weapons in it, that is awesome. Looks very fun hope to see a v1.1 or v2.0 LOL FAIL! Overall i rate it 4/5 because of that zombie spawn time.
This is a map preview, which means it's not done.... Might wanna check what you're reading. Anyways, I'll be updating the pictures sometime in the next 2 weeks. After finals are over... All will be awesome...
Good luck with your exams, glad to see you're prioritising the right things here! Looking forward to an update in the future.
