OK, so I have been messing around in photoshop for a couple of years, but I know I haven't even scratched the surface. Recently I started getting somewhat serious about sig-making, and I have gotten...decent at it. However, there is always something missing that keeps me below everyone else, and I'm wondering if you guys have any advice. Right now I'm just going around teh interwebs and picking up random tuts, but that only gives you one or two specific effects, and I think I am missing something more fundamental then that. Anyway, here is some of my work. Please, beat me to death with criticism. Spoiler Kind of awkward with text, kind of empty without. Never really liked this one. For those of you wondering why I have a sig with nothing but my username, it's cause I got into ambigrams for a while, and thought I would make a sig about it. Kind of stupid unless you know it's the same sig upside down. Personal favorite, probably cause I love mew. A really old one. simple, but it's kind of, I don't know...OK, it's just simple. And of course my current sig that I threw together today for the season. Anyway, that's about it except for some complete garbage from a year or so ago. Some of em are better then others, but I still get the feeling there is just something missing, and I need an outside opinion. So seriously, any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot. PS what does CnC stand for? I'm assuming it's some variation of comment and criticize, or critique and criticize, but honestly, I don't know.
These are all really nice ad I don't see many better. The one with the pirate is the coolest. The only problem I have is that the text is way to plain. look up some tuts for text effects.
The main thing I would suggest is try working with stocks instead of renders, you know the full picture. It makes backgrounds easier and usually better. Also keep it at one focal and try adding more depth with blurring/sharpening. I like to keep my text smaller and near the focal, of course thats just me. Your best is by far the Mew one and then the Pirate. You should try some lighting too, and maybe just keep looking at others work and tutorials. Just takes practice
alright, thanks for the tips. honestly, i have never worked with anything but renders. definitely going to try using stocks. and yeah, my text is plain. = (. anyway, feel free to keep it up. I'm always looking for criticism.
