    Hello ForgeHubbers,

I come to you with a question. My parents agreed to fund me building my own gaming tower, I have a price limit of 1500$ US. My main goal is to be able to run Gmod with some mass physics, and or play crysis on High, and be able to pull of some mass physics in sandbox mode.

So, I need some recommendations on Processors, Graphics Cards, Mobo's, etc.

    Help?

What current parts do you plan on not reusing for your new build?

Well, are you looking for any input devices? New mouse, keyboard, headset? Even monitor?

No, not necessarily. Just need the hardware for the tower, that's really it.

btw, nice double post, lol :3

Notebookcheck: FAQ / Tips / Technics

I'd give that a good read.

I'd say you want an Nvidia motherboard and an Nvidia graphics card, because games like Crysis run multithreading(?) so you can take advantage of their SLI technology.

I'd also say when deciding on a processor, don't be fooled by all the computer speak. Quad Cores don't give 4x performance, they give less so it's good just to go back to the simple facts and work from then. The cache is very important, so make sure you have like 4-8gb, this is the processing limitation for your cpu.

I would also make sure you know that the power supply and fans are very important, as is a good disc drive (blueray maybe?)

Lastly i would say you should definately make a thread on something like Toms hardware or Cnet with this question, because there will be people who know every detail and can price you up the full package within your price range.

You should be able to get a good 6 gig ddr3 ram (ram good for rendering and other strenuous processes) a graphics card that is easily in the top 10 of the commercial market and a kickass processor with that money.

All the parts you will need. Top quality, best prices. 1418$ USD. Enjoy.

    Just spreading some knowledge.

Nvidia = worst value for your cash (right now). ATI and AMD are dominating in terms in value, so they're your best bet. However, with a price range like this, ATI and Intel are probably the best route. All newer games (even most 3 year old games) are multi threaded. Most of them dual core optimized, but that's mostly due to age.

Now, quad cores may not give 4x the power (having one myself), but it definitely is the best thing to get right now. The LGA775 socket is practically dead so dual cores, especially Intels, are out of the question. Now, AM2+ is still alive and kickin', as AMD has great futureproofing support (main reason I went there). Also, I don't quite see how quad cores give less [than other processors]?

I can't say I recommend Tom's Hardware, especially Cnet. Your best bet is another type of PC forum. TH is chock full of Intel + Nvidia fanboys, since the website has been exploited to make benchmarks purposely in favor of Nvidia.

And as quick note, eight gigabytes of RAM is totally unnecessary. Its mostly about timings and speeds of the actual RAM, not much you have of it. I have my 4GB of DDR3 RAM overclocked to 1600MHz, and it flies around as fast as my friend's Corsair Dominator's.

Not meant to bash any opinions, just don't want misconceptions flying around, as I have spent countless days wasted researching this topics and lived them out first hand.

If you can't find anything, go to the steam forums, they are very helpful and there's always someone who has a badass build in your price range... good luck.
