When trying to get an alternative to mancannons on my maps(all the real ones were used up), I had noticed something. I had dropped a camper's stool onto a weapon holder, making it float. Then it hit me! If small scenery objects can be held by weapon holders, why not grav lifts too? I knocked away the stool and dropped a grav lift in its place. It worked! Although it can't launch as vetically as a regular mancannon, it still makes you fly! Just a helpful tip from me to ForgeHub.
LMAO I will be having a camping stool hit people, I might even make a mini game in an extremely small map where you have to dodge them...or does it not hurt?
Al, I recommend doing that with a cone rather than a camping stool. But that is not the point of this thread.
Whisper, I found this myself and wanted to contribute to the community. This might actually HELP people.
I applaud your desire to contribute to the community, but Whisper is correct, this is old. Assuming your "makeshift mancannons" are Grav Lifts on weapon holders, people have known about this for quite a while. It's useful for blocking certain areas or making one-way doors, but not useful like a mancannon by propelling people.
It's just, at the time, I found this real cool. Kapura, it won't function to the extent of a normal cannon, but can propel short distances and act as speed boosters.
There's a Forging 101 article on this. So it's kinda old. Useful, though. I use it for holding switches, doors, etc. It's very helpful.
