Well i had been bouncing this idea around of making a 1 sided CTF Assault map that was terrain based. Well this one is gona be terrain based but it will have some added aspects. Attackers spawn at the bottom of the map and have to work their way up the hill to plant the bomb or steal the flag. Also may work with VIP, Fatkid. Well here is my concept drawings and a few screenshots of what iv done so far. As you can see their will be cliff faces with jumps on them, but also walkways. Only problem with attackers and walkways is defenders have vantage points and sniper turrets so, its risk versus reward. Sorry for the quality best a cell phone can do. Update new in game pics! i think i understand what your getting at but could you clarify. is is kindof like a rock wall type thing that the attackers have to climb up get the bomb, or flag and plant it. if you could make it work it would be fun but you gotta be careful with maps like these. people with hwight advantages pwn do to there facing the climbers heads.
Yeah pretty much, but their will be a walkway that wraps around the whole thing. Also some hidden paths. And possible hidden tele's that help attackers get to the top.
Yeah Jackals Bridge got me thinking of what would be a badass terrain map. I just have to make sure and implement enough ways for attackers to reach the top that its fair for them.
I'm really liking what I'm seeing. When I get my xbox back from getting fixed I'd like to make a spin off this idea that doesn't have to deal with jumping and wrapping around the hill. It would be pretty cool if sometime during the hill you made a tunnel that goes through to the other side and continues on.
Dont Forget. You cant have a cliff without Bunkers. Bunkers are awesome in every way shape and form. Anyway maybe add a cool looking cave for the attackers to spawn in and a cool waterfall somewhere. Good Luck
Ok my only advice that will make this map unique and different from other maps that don't get a lot of attention is too make it really natural. Keep it looking like a terrain and incorporate holes and caves in a lot of places. Make it so it doesn't seem like a normal Sandbox map. Just look up pictures of caves online and try to make it look like that. Not only will it be aesthetically appealing but it would have really cool and unique gameplay.
I LOVE this idea. I'd been throwing something like this in my head for a while after hearing corduroyCHUCK's concept (it's similar in the general gameplay sense, but different in the approach) but I wasn't sure how I'd go about doing it. Looks like you've got it down.
Sarge loves something? Captain, you are 1 lucky guy. Anyway I like the idea of keeping it all terrain based. Definitely look up some other pictures. Maybe you can even change the layout of the cliffside. Hell, even maybe for kicks, add a steep slope for defenders to drop down in style or even an attacker with the objective sliding down. Maybe some Crouching holes in the cliff to take cover or go to another opening in the cliff. That was a lot of typing for an ipod touch. Damn Im awesome.
Thanks for the ideas ya'll. But i think i know what im going to do for this now. Instead of a one sided map it'l be symmetrical. Defenders spawn down low on one side Attackers the other. Maybe a type of conquest and CTF map, with some caves, bunkers, crevices, and all the what not. First things first i have to finish the basic layout.
Well im gona do 2 versions. A one sided version and then a symmetrical version. I think it can work both ways. The one sided version will have more extensive cave system, and secret passages.
