Alright i have this idea but it very complicated and i want to make sure its not just going to be lost in the flood of "OMG infection" maps. I remember there was this part in call of duty 2 where you were in these Russian trenches fighting and tanks were rolling over the tops of the trenches. It was really a rush and i thought it would be fun to make a map like this. I've done all the calculations and there are enough resources on foundry to do it. I was planning on using double boxes to serve as the ground and have spaces in between them to serve as trenches. On either side i wanted a two story base with a few entrances in. A front door, a broken down wall on the side that you have to blow up fusion coils or something to get in and a staircase leading directly into the base via trenches. Up on top of the trenches on the "ground" i wanted plenty of vehicles for both teams to make the "ground" be a massive vehicle battle up top with a *little* cover for anyone brave enough to venture out into this no mans land. I really think this idea can work and I'm positive I'll do it if anything for the experience and practice involved (this will take A LOT of interlocking) but i was just curious how an idea like this would go down in the community. If anyone has any advice on how to make it, things to add/remove please feel free.
Oh yeah, i forgot. Standoff has trenchlike areas. :/ Maybe make a floating area on a different map , it'd take a lot of resources
I was just planning on using Wraiths. I set the boxes up a decent distance away from each other to allow walking 2 abreast in the trenches and i could still get the wraith (and all other vehicles actually) over them very easily. Obviously if you try to get a vehicle in there it wouldn't be too hard to get it stuck in there but i think accidentally falling in would be very rare. I had the key aspects of it set up in foundry to see if it would work (which it would) and i also calculated how much of everything i'd need, including weapons and other non-scenary objects and it is do able. Well at least i didn't get any "THAT SUCKS!" so i guess i found my new project. =]
This is a great idea! You could use Avalanche but it wouldn't really provide that COD2 atmosphere but neither would Foundry. But Avalanche has TONS of Immovable Double Boxes. Also Good Luck on this project.
Hmm thats a good idea as well. I wasn't exactly looking for a COD2 feeling but just the feeling of an epic battle involving both infantry and vehicles. I know foundry isn't exactly massive battle material but i have a couple ideas to make it seem like it. I'm planning on doing specific things with cover and such. All of your comments are greatly appreciated by the way.
