Euthanasia has several meanings: Literally "good death", any peaceful death. Using an injection of seconal to kill a pet when it becomes homeless, old, sick or feeble. Hitler decided to remove certain groups from the gene pool by killing homosexuals, Jews, gypsies and mentally retarded people. Euthanasia was the **** euphemism. Killing a patient at the request of the family. The patient is brain dead, comatose or otherwise incapable of letting it be known if he or she would prefer to live or die. Mercy killing. Physician-assisted suicide Killing a terminally ill person at their request. (By the way this applies to humans and animals like pets.) Should humans be given the right to play God? The term 'Euthanasia' comes from the Greek word for 'easy death'. It is the one of the most public policy issues being debated about today. Also called 'mercy killing', euthanasia is the act of purposely making or helping someone die, instead of allowing nature to take its course. Basically euthanasia means killing in the name of compassion. On the contrary, it promotes abuse, gives doctors the right to murder and in addition, is contradictory to religious beliefs. This is more of a moral than a religious debate. Therefore, I would like to hear some different opinions on this topic.
If somebody is going to die, and they are in pain, and cannot speak for themselves then I think assisted suicide should be considered in all cases. I also don't think it should be up to the family of the patient either, because they would most likely be selfish and want to keep the person in a living hell.
I look at it this way. Killing is illegal. Helping people killing others is illegal. Trying to commit suicide is illegal. Why is helping people commit suicide legal?
