First off, I know I'm going to be calling them by the wrong name. I honestly can't think of what they are right now, but you know them - they are the holes for the golf balls to go into. Anyway, I'm trying to use them to make the bottom of a section of a map. I went in, put them under the grid (it's on skybubble), put them where I wanted them, save, left, etc. Now, this works, but I have a few questions/issues. 1. Shouldn't I just be able to ghost merge these? I tried last night, but couldn't get it to work. 2. When I went to place object on top of the cups, the object (even heavy ones) moved to the center like they were golf balls. Is there anyway to stop that from happening? Any help with this issue is (as always) appreciated.
I have seen this issue before, notably with vehicles on a grass surface. There really seems to be no way to fix this. As for ghost merging, be sure you're doing it correctly. I see no reason it would not work, and I am quite sure I have ghost merged them before. They are acturally called "tin cups"
The tin cups have a sence of "gravity" toward the center (mainly to make it if you get a golf ball close enough to the hole it'll be pulled in instead of just flying right over it) And while sometimes this is useful to pin down vehicles or whatnot, sometimes its annoying, and to my knowledge there is no way to avoid it.
I think there is a way to fix the gravity issue; I'm pretty sure I've done it before. 1. Set the tin cup not to spawn at start. 2. Start a new round. 3. Place the item where you want it to. 4. While holding on to it, save the map and then quit. 5. Start the game again. 6. The gravity shouldn't affect the item. I'm pretty sure it works, but try it out.
Well, where is the problem in your ghost merging? Is it that the tin cups are not becoming no-clip to begin with, or something else? Explain the ghost merging part a bit more.
You can't merge it into a perfectly flat surface upside down with ghost merging because the pole counts as part of the depth of the object. As you know, you can only ghost merge things halfway through their depth, so when you try to merge a tin cup upside down, it stops halfway down the pole.
Don't worry, I"ve got another idea already worked out. I just wish those things didn't have the gravity thing in them.
