Upon recognizing forge's ability to create flowing organic structures in such maps as The Hollow, and Schism of Light, I decide to examine other possibilities of organic maps. After a short while, I remember a comment on one of my previous maps. So I decided to completely reforge that map, but create a more organic, flowing feel to a forest. And this is what I got I tried to make the map out of "branches" as if it were one giant tree swallowed up by foundry. Currently the weapons are set to BR x4 Sniper x1 Mauler x1 OV x1 After 3 or so hours of testing with my friends, I have changed the weapons and map slightly for better gameplay UPDATE 11-11-09 Spoiler Two more Brs added 4 plasma nades added (2 for each side) Active camo added (assymetric only) OV switched to symmetric only Minor geometry changes Map is now impossible to escape Map is compatible with KOTH and Oddball THINGS YET TO FIX Spawns are still horrible Considering removing the mauler as it is way overpowering But that is likely to change as I have just started testing. Any comments, feedback, and suggestions are all welcome.
This looks really good. Forging looks really clean and neat and it's a really cool idea. Do you think you could post m0re pics? like an overview, or is that all you've forged so far?
why you dont continue to do this on all the map? Its a great idea to put some box for doing so tree ! If you want help or tester i will be intersing to test it !
i would actually love to forge this with you. add me and we can play the map, than i could try and see what additions i could do. see if we could make something cool.
Most of the map geometry is already forged, and these pics just display a little bit of the map. It just a Teaser, to get you excited and see a little bit of the map. The map is quite small, taking up only on half of foundry, and I may make it bigger but I am low on objects. Anyway, I will be editing it this weekend (no video games on weekdays for me) and you can come check it out then. Any weapon suggestions? Sometimes I feel the snipe/mauler gets bland. Add- D4VY JON3S if you want to test or just check out the map in general.
Put a brute shot and some overhanging bridges/ walls. I'm gonna join in on your forges this weekend I guess. This is just plain amazing.
Im going to extend the wall, but a brute shot will just assist people into getting spots where I dont want them Right now I can think of 3 or so places which would be accessible via brute shot But I would, if that weren't a problem.
From the looks of it, it seems small and bare. True, you've got lots of a double boxes floating around, but otherwise, all I see is a border to the right in the first pic and a couple of weapons. I don't really see how this will play good either.. there doesn't seem to be much time for actual fighting seeing as you would rather (at least I would) jump around to places. Also, there seem to be some spots where players can view 70% of the map. That isn't a good thing. I'm sorry if that seemed harsh, but I'm just trying to give you constructive criticism. Please don't take it personally. P.S. I could be entirely wrong seeing as I'm only judging by two pictures and nothing else..
Er1c0 is right, i just realized. i looked more upon this as cool ghost merges than actually seeing themap's gameplay. hmmm... i guess we'll have to see.
Er1c0-I understand, and the entirety of the map is accesible via walking, with few jumps needed to move around, but the gameplay was designed around the feeling of jumps and connected pathways, there aren't many weapons, the the size of the map limits the amount of things you can do. The lines of sight i think are very good, there long enough for the sniper to have power, but limited to the distance a br would reach, and there aren't many tight corners, so the mauler could get stuck out in the open. Also, keep in mind that nothing is final, it just a teaser I have yet to experience enough gameplay for this map to say anything definitely, but I think 2v2 will be the most the map can handle. or 6 person FFA
hmmm,if you are worried about brute shots breaking the map than it will be almost as easy wit a good old grenade jump
No no no no no, not BREAKING the map, just accessing areas in the tops of the trees that you shouldn't be able to, and getting on the rafters above Foundry, I will make the wall to escape the map as high as the elastic barrier, so it is impossible, to get out of the map.
