A freind recently showed me a site called www.freerice.com and I thought I'd share it with the FH community. At Free Rice, you can donate 10 grains of rice to the UN World Food Program (WFP), simply by getting a question right. They have categories such as Art, Math (though it's nothing more than simple problems, I literally mean nothing is over a 4th grade level), Chemistry, English Grammar & Vocab, Geography, and Language learning. As of right now I have donated 4,800 grains of rice. Please help the cause by visiting the link in my sig, or earlier in the paragraph. EDIT: I also just thought I'd let you know, exiting the site will count the rice donation as is. If you want it to remain at the same number with each visit go to the tabs at the top of the page and select "OPTIONS".
wow. thanks for telling me about this. i collected over 2000 grains of rice so far. and i also posted it on my facebook status.
I'm going to sit down and try to answer a few everyday, this is pretty cool. But, why can't they just donate? Why do you have to answer questions.
I remember this, alot of fun aswell as the great idea of helping. Also good to keep your vocabulary up
If you think about it, it's an efficient way to combat the falling quality of literacy in this country and hunger in other countries at the same time.
My exact answer. I had the same question too at first, but it started to make sense when I suddenly used one of the words in a conversation.
I used to go on this daily in my ICT classes. Remember, if you don't pick the hardest questions, your special.
It's owned by the WPF, so I doubt that rumor is correct. If it was that would be the crulest thing ever.
